"Five members of a family in Pakistan are among eight people who may be the country's first human cases of bird flu, the World Health Organization said. At least one brother died. "

Also!!! Get this! One of the relatives and his son went to Pakistan from the U.S. for the funeral of the victim, and came back to the U.S.

The father came in w/ flu like symptoms then later the son started to get flu like symptoms.
They went into voluntary isolation and supposedly they got tested for bird flu and it came back negative but they people didnt bother to do a second test. Usually 2nd tests are done to fully comfirm because the people may have taken some type of tamiflu like meds or w/e, no one knows.

So...I am not sure what to say about this one but they were around the sick people and came back sick, only one test was done so this is like trial and error. they should have done another test i think.
Also, the people are out of isolation but.....what if the contagious period isnt over just yet?

These people live in NY.

yes, looks like Pakistan isn't the only one with a recent outbreak:

HANOI, Vietnam — Bird flu has resurfaced in parts of Asia, with human deaths reported in Indonesia and China and fresh outbreaks plaguing other countries during the winter months when the virus typically flares.

Indonesia, the nation hardest hit by the H5N1 virus, announced its 93rd death on Friday. A 47-year-old man died a day earlier in a Jakarta hospital, said Health Ministry spokesman Joko Suyono. The man fell ill on Dec. 2 and was admitted with flu-like symptoms, becoming Indonesia's 115th person infected with the disease.

In China, the military in eastern Nanjing banned the sale of poultry this week after a father and son came down with the disease earlier this month. Health officials confirmed the 24-year-old man died from the virus a day before his father, 52, became sick. It was the country's 17th bird flu death.

The two were believed to have eaten a traditional dish known as "beggar's chicken," in which the bird is wrapped in lotus leaves and baked. However, the cause of infection remained unclear.Bird Flu Resurfaces: Deaths Reported in Indonesia, China

I will pass on the "beggar's chicken" for a while...

OMG I just saw this.... shouldn't the person be in quarrantine until the 2nd test? Maybe an outbreak in the USA would take everyone's minds off of other things? Crazy!!
