GOOGLE is building its own version of communally-constructed online encyclopedia Wikipedia, which consistently ranks among the most visited websites in the world.

While Wikipedia lets visitors make changes to its online pages, trusting that people with accurate information will correct errors and misleading entries, Google is inviting people to author their own articles.

I agree, I think Google will be buying wiki as opposed to making there own version. Merging the two possible also.
I know a lot of people have problems with the accuracy of wiki, but I like the way it is written. I find it easy to read and understand.

Google will start their own version, like Google Video, and then buy up the competition, aka Wiki, much like Youtube. But instead of keeping the two seperate wike GoogleVid and Youtube, they'll get merged and we'll get a new bar in our Google searches with "Google Wiki".

Can anyone say anti-competetive?
