There's at least 5 major scientific theories based around 2012.
Pole Shift Theory.(all but proven phyically, associated when the Magnetic and Phyical poles "meet" the shift happens, and it is closer then you'd
think)
Angry Sun Theory. (stela dust particals collect around the sun until the sun blows them off)
Solar Maximum cycles.
The poles will shift some time, many say in the near future, and there's good evidence for it.
The Earth is protected from harmful electromagnetic waves by the earth's magnetic field. That field will drop and sputter during the pole shift. It
will be basicly dropping the shied in parts of the earth from harmful, Deadly, waves.
There's more theories. There's over 24 scientific, historic, profetic and other theories all centering on 2012.
But in the end, people are blinded by what they don't want to see. Perceptions are choice, and the failure to see that perceptions are conscious
choices will not alow the ability for those to see what they don't want to see. We truly do live in a blind generation.

I’ve read elsewhere on ATS that in 2012, the Earth will pass the “Galactic Equator,” and pass into something known as the “photonic belt.”
Proponents of this theory state that current technology will have serious problems functioning within this high energy zone. This article illustrates
the beginning of a new field of photonic computing, data storage, and power.

I just thought of that particular 2012 theory while reading this article.
Now, I’m skeptical of just about every 2012 “prophesy” out there, but the photonic belt theory seems that it at least *could* be scientific in nature, not being shrouded in dooms-day propaganda, or relying upon ancient calendars for information; but then again, who knows?
What do you guys think?
