Well, since I stink at debating, I'll throw my gauntlets in here. I'm trying to get Byrd to jump on ye 'ole bandwagon with me, so we can see what kinds of mischief we can pull down here. Should be a hoot.

I don't think there would be anybody who would Debate that.

The goal of a monday start seems to have fallen through. I'm still looking for a mod for this debate and seeing if the mods who haven't announced partners yet are in or not.

Semper, as reigning Champ, I think you rate mentor status, so go ahead and find a partner if you can and as long as none of the other contestants object I think it will be OK.

I only have one objection to semper's participation here. And that is if I have to wait too long to match up with him! I've been itching for a rematch with this scoundrel for far too long.

Can we allow an extended period over the Holidays where members can ask for an extension? Normally we go with 24 hours, but given the time of the year.. I don't think it's too much to ask for a few days. I know I'm going to be out of town visiting family from the 23rd to the 28th. I land back home on the 28th, and would be able to pick up the pace again from there. I'm sure others are in the same boat.

No need to officially shut it down over the holidays, but allow an opportunity for those who can not post, to settle back in and get back at it.

Just a thought.

Yeah i don't think you'll have any worries there The Vagabond said time restrictions will be loosened. I mean 5 teams means that there will be a total of 40 debates lol this could go on for a while.

Alright, I'm going to start U2Uing the new mods of the debate forum so I can get someone to pick topics and start threads.

Personally I'll be trying to post fast and bring my debate to a close before Xmas, but why don't we call it 48 hour time limits and holiday pauses of up to 10 days in length by request of either participant in a debate?

You guys might want to throw out topic suggestions to make life easier on whoever ends up modding this.

Well as it is the season, why not some conspiracy relating to the holidays?

Or, a political subject would fit in with the current US elections..

As we are all experienced debaters, why not pick a topic or two that may have been discarded before? Even a "touchy" topic could be debated with professionalism by this group....

Some suggestions...

1. The Republican Party is no longer a Conservative Party.

2. Democrat or Socialist, where do the Liberals stand?

3. Santa Claus could have visited every child on earth according to physics.

4. Jesus Christ, Man or God?

5. If I own it, I can share it on the net. (Touchy I know, but it can be debated)

While were on debate topics most of my lets say better knowledge has already been heavily used in the debate forum already so lets just get juicy instead and really explore my horizons.

Gun control.

Free universal health care.

Bring back capital punishment.

Is the American economy going to crash?

Electric Universe?

Alex Jones disinfo agent?

North American Union.

Should we be trying to signal our position to potentially hostile alien races?

Not totally sure if any of these have been covered in the debate forum yet but i wouldn't mind giving at least one of them a bash.

I would cry if I got stuck arguing against file sharing.

Sharing is caring, screw the RIAA.

MMM hmmm...

I tend to feel the same way, generally speaking. There is most definitely a worthy debate there, as that's a touchy topic that almost anyone can get behind, in one form or another.

A couple of mine are:

The NWO is run by the corporate elite

Global Warming is part of a cyclical process

Time travel will be possible with the aid of quantum mechanics

The Multiple Genesis Theory

The Powers That Be have splintered, and each side holds a part of the world

Aliens have visited Earth many times over the course of our history

and finally,

The Mexican Border issue is being allowed to happen to propel the US into a 3rd World Nation status.


These are just a few of my ideas. True, there's a theme there, but that tends to follow my train of thought of late. This should prove to be a most productive debate series. I look forward to the challenges ahead y'all!!
