What is the reason for squaring the circle ?

You can’t square a circle, it is a mathematical problem, and it cannot be solved. The reason is the pi isn’t constructible but transcendent.

Squaring the circle can be solved. See
mathworld.wolfram.com...

While the circle cannot be squared in Euclidean space,
==> it can in Gauss-Bolyai-Lobachevsky Space (Gray 1989).

However I still wonder how Masons did it with the Square and Compass.

Anything can be solved with fictive numbers, including quantum mechanics that does not make it solvable in the real world.

Me too! If you find out, will you let me know?

Oh wait!

From: www.phoenixmasonry.org...

Again, the squaring of the circle that problem which has baffled so many modern mathematicians --is an occult expression signifying that Deity, symbolized by the all- containing circle, has attained form and manifestation in a " square " or human soul. It expresses the mystery of the Incarnation, accomplished within the personal soul.

You have to think outside the box. It's all symbolic, my dear man.

You can only approximate it. To be fair, though, any geometric figure you can construct will only be an approximation when you measure it closely enough.

The point though, what's ultimately trying to have attention drawn to it, is that pi, as stated earlier in this thread, is a transcendental number.

That means no matter how long you trace out its decimal places, a pattern will never emerge and it will never "make sense" mathematically; ie it cannot be predicted by any known algorithm. It represents and is evidence of something at work in the universe much bigger than mankind, something that transcends all time here.

At least it is now clear why old NAZI Germany provided us 440 Hertz.

Radius Earth = 11 * 360 = 3960 miles
Radius Moon = 3 * 360 = 1080 miles
Radius Both = 14 * 360 = 5040 miles

This circle is: 2 x Pi x 5040 = 31680 miles

9 x 8 = 72 Gods in Kaballah x 440 Hertz = 31680

You got it wrong:

Average number of goats at a masonic lodge: 21

21*21=441

Average number of times each goat is ridden: 1

441-1=440

THIS is why old NAZI Germany provided us 440 Hertz.

Seriously, do you think either one of these crazy ideas is more plausible than the other?

You are right. 440 and 441 are the Key numbers of the Pyramid
and is related to music.

Hah, I would wager you were not expecting that response Saurus. I certainly was not.

5 cm squared. only ones with 5 whatever units area can be squared.

so it's not solvable but does make me curious about pi. is it really infinite?

Anyhow, I hate maths

The problem is actually taking the area of any given circle and constructing a square that has the exact same area, using only a compass.

We have physics formulas that can predict all kinds of complex things in nature, and theoretical mathematics above and beyond anything we can see or demonstrate experimentally, and yet the only way you can figure out what decimal is going to come next in the pi sequence is by actually measuring a big enough circle. There is no way we can predict mathematically what number is going to come next, because the chaos inherent to the number is impenetrable. Just when you think you've found a formula, the next number that comes totally shatters the pattern. And so on and so on, infinitely, or at least as far as any human has been capable of looking. It defies reason or logic as we are familiar with them.
