This is a slow load on my computer (e6600 dual core, 2 gigs ram, nvidia 7800 GT, Antech true control 550, 400 gig sata 2 harddrive...)

It also took a fair while on the first reboot-give it "several"min's to let it finish installing all the updates.

You will know when it is done by listening to hard drive-it will be grinding away like crazy.

You can also monitor the instrall bye : Ctrl-Alt_Del and opening the system properties box.

On the top of the box, choose the "performance" tab-this will shop you what percent of the cpu(s) are being used as well as ram usage.

On the "process" tab, it shows all the running process and what cpu/memory usage is going on for each application.

Is it true that it supports up to 4gb memory.

There was a registry setting you can change which would enable you to download it from windows update. I've had the SP3 for a few weeks already, but it doesn't seem to have impacted the pc's speed that much.
