Economy fears hitting recruitment

UK employers are set to take on new workers at their slowest rate in six years in the wake of the credit crisis, recruitment firm Manpower has said.

Hiring confidence among employers in finance and business services eased by a "significant" 12 percentage points from the final quarter of this year, Manpower said.

In October, the Centre for Economics and Business Research said that it expected 6,500 City jobs to be lost in 2008, with cutbacks most pronounced in investment banking.

The economic storm clouds are gathering in London.

It's pretty safe to say the UK is going to get hit very hard in 2008/09. The Independent even discussed the possibility of the economy shrinking too.

Very bad news.

Parts of our economy are already showing signs of a recession. The start of 2008 is going to be very important to us all.

Not to be mean or anything, but by time you guys get hit, we should be coming out of the storm. Send your grads over here. We love doing business with them. Many firms here in NY City, love the English trained business graduates.

Not to mention the possibility of the dollar gaining in the european market...I just may start thinking about vacationing at some point in the near future...though Vegas is closer....
