I was looking through some images taken by Apollo 8 and noticed something rather unusual in a picture of the Goclenius Crater:

There is a weird structure on the left, and there appears to be smoke trails on the right. What do you guys/gals think of this?

By the way the original can be found here: www.keithlaney.net...

Could you be more specific/ I don't see nothing.
I just see a crater on the moon.

Once again another thread showing "aliens on the Moon". Once again, they are conspicous by their absence! Dear me, how many more of these are there going to be?

Sorry for the bad link, you obviously could not see what I was referring to in that one.

Here you go look at this one:

It could just be my eyes playing on me but it looks like the "smoke trails" are leaving shadows on the ground.

Yes you right…I mean it is unusual.
You can also see clearly the shadow that this trail makes.

Good observation.

The supposed smoke trails look like ground features to me ...

I'm sorry if my post upset you. I just noticed something rather unusual looking and thought it should be brought to everyones attention. I'm not claiming that there are aliens/green men on the moon (although there still could be) but saying that this picture looks weird. You decide for yourself.

These are channels on the lunar surface called rilles. They are common on the moon... the-moon.wikispaces.com...

Beyond that, ask yourself: If the sunlight is coming from the lower-left then why are the "smoke shadows" cast in the opposite direction?

op, did you make those red arrows? because on nasa pictures i have only seen black arrows used.

it appears that there is a thread? on the the scanner/lens or something.
top right corner area, couple inches down and to the left.

next, that red arrow pointing to the (^) shaped structure is a normal feature, i think. because there is a similar one within the center of the crater itself.

IattackPeople is right IMHO: the apparent smoke trails are rilles.
I've found an image which is a very good example, imho:

About the formation you indicated, i franky have no clue what it could be,

but most likely is a crater ejecta formation IMHO: the may be very odd shaped.

Anyway, thank you for sharing it:

Just looks like the light hitting the rim on one side of a crevace. Narrow and deep in some places and shallow and wide in others. The angle of light and shadow falling on all the other surface features would go some way to supporting that - though I'm no scientist :s Nice optical illusion though!

Also, if it was smoke, would it blow sidewards and maintain it's shape. Looks like you'd need an atmosphere with a breeze for that to occur. Then again, Armstrongs Flag did wave about didn't it! LOL
