NM_FEB_24_1950.pdf
(Unclassified) Material for Project Blue Book, “Unidentified Flying Object”
A disposition containing multiple sightings of a bright object over Holloman AFB on the 24th of February 1950.

Document date: 1952-08-01
Department: USAF
Author: Major Fournet
Document type: Disposition
pages: 14

Archivist's Notes: The object is described as a bright light flashing white, red, and green, emitting a contrail, while it remained in place for up to 30 minutes at a time. The object appeared multiple times during the night, and was caught on film. The document is in poor condition, with sections being illegible. The latter half appears to be photocopied microfiche film, possibly containing the pictures of the unidentified object.

On the night of 24 Feb, and the morning of 25 Feb, 1940, a Cpl. Stanfield of the Air Police out of Holloman AFB observed and photographed a UFO at Datil, New Mexico, where his job was as a Range Patrol. The photos eventually end up being sent to a Mrs. Barber in Washington, D.C., and could be in the Project Blue Book archives.

Cpl. Stanfield, described as "Very reliable" and "Above average", watched the round pulsating light that changed colors, for a total of three hours. While he could not see any vapor trail with the naked eye, one of his photos is described as showing one. The fact that the photos were of such quality and detail to determine this means that the originals could have been very good for modern analysis.

Sadly, the reproduction of the photos provided in this document are worthless.

This 14 page military document about the Unknown Aerial Phenomenon in February 1950 is well described by NGC2736.
To recap, a white round object remained in the sky near Holloman AFB New Mexico for a couple of hours.
The object turned red and green at times. The object also disappeared then reappeared some hours later. Col Stanfield took photographs which are included in the document but are indistinguishable.

My thoughts while reviewing this document were about how much time had lapsed between the sighting in Feb 1950, followed by an investigation report March 1950 and then reached the attention of Director of Intelligence USAF in July 1952. By August 1952 it was added to material for Project Blue Book.
