I wouldn't call the cops before you check if they have government plates. Most of the time that is what it is. Probably why the cop left so quickly. There are reports of it happening all over the country, but you can make of it what you will.

They could be with the FCC,when I was a teen a friend of mines dad used turn a linear amp on to talk to his buddy ,reaking havoc on peoples radios and TV,soon we would see the FCC vans cruising the neighborhood,maybe someone has a bootleg radio station
