Image problem!

Topic started on 8-12-2007 @ 02:10 PM by Boone 870

I need help with an image problem.

I posted this image on a thread yesterday and fellow members told me that it wasn't working. Could someone spare the time to help me out?

On the picture below, do you see an image from Google Earth that has Washington DC with a start next to it?

If so, click the open full image link directly below the picture. Does it open a new window with the full image or does a pop up appear with the options "save" and "open"?

If the image is hosted by you or by ATS, there's no reason to use im-tags. Better use ats-tags instead.

edit: Scratch that. The image was too big... Should be 640 pixels max width to be posted directly in posts with ats-tags...

Thank you for your time.

I don't know what was going on in the other thread, but if it works now that's all I need to know.

There's a small bug. It's pretty harmless but annoying. There will be a popup asking you to save the image if the image is hosted by ats and im-tags are used. We are looking into it.

Did you have any problems when you clicked the full image link below the picture?

One of your fellow moderators (Intrepid) tried to open the image and got the pop-up window also. He/she couldn't figure out why it was during that.

If it works now that I don't have anything to worry about.

Thanks for the help.

You still need help. It's not working. As soon as the page opens I get the pop-up, and when I click the link, I get the pop-up.

I get the popup as soon as I open this thread. If I click the image I get the same popup and the image is not showing. When I tested with ats tags instead in my post above the image was showing, but it was too big to be posted directly into the thread with ats-tags. If the problem is not fixed soon, I suggest you host your image at photobucket, imageshack, uploadit.org or any other image host instead. And if your image is not wider than 640 pixels, you can then use ats-tags instead of im-tags. ATS tags are better to use for "small" images that you're hosting.

Example of an image posted with ats-tags:

So, the image works for some and not for others?

How soon do you think the problem will be fixed? Can I expect a notification when the problem is fixed?

I'm assuming that other members are experiencing the same problem. Will the forum staff send out a mass U2U?

I have posted a total of three images on ATS and at least two of them have not shown up in the thread. I don't know which ones were defective because they appear normal to me when I view the post and click the full image link below the picture. That leaves me slightly embarrassed and very frustrated.

I tested with IE just now, and your image is showing fine. I get the popup problem when using FireFox

Like Hellmutt suggested, host it on imageshack.us or a similar site, and post it in the thread with {img}{/img} tags instead of with {ats}{/ats} tags. It'll probably work better for you to do it that way. I normally use the first set of tags, no matter how big the image is, and have never had problems with posting an image in a thread.

How does it look after you open it?

That's wrapped with the img instead of the im tags.

What image hosting site do you recommend?

Ok, NOW it's a mystery. I've NEVER had a problem using the {img}{/img} tags, but I'm getting the same thing with Firefox, that I got before. When I go into the reply screen and look at your posts I get a big black "FILE NOT FOUND" where the image is supposed to be.

I prefer imageshack.us for hosting personally.

When I get the pop-up it says it's coming from "http:\\files.abovetopsecret.com" for the last image as well as the first one. Go to http:\\imageshack.us and upload it there and put it up with the {img}{/img} tags and see how it works then.

How is this one? Does the image appear properly when you click the full image URL below the picture?

Every post works fine for me.

I'm using IE.

Might be Firefox.

I think it is Firefox. That image is hosted by photo bucket, hopefully Zaphod58 will check to make sure works on Firefox.

The last image works perfectly. That's the way to go, either imageshack or photobucket.
