Magnetic Potential Energy

So I have been thinking about this and deeply elaborating and now I want you guys to see what you can make out of this. Give an argument for proof positive, negative or both.

A permanent magnet holds a magnetic field we all know that but what exactly is a magnetic field? What I am going to say may have some of you open your eyes becuase when it clicked for me it sure did.

A magnet is a ferrous material, take iron for example. Unmagnetized iron has atoms composing it in mostly random directions. Now when iron is magnetized vast quantities of these atoms become aligned to create a magnetic field. WAIT, did it just create a magnetic field, NO, that field was always present. All those atoms had and still have a magnetic field , its just that now they are all aligned creating a stronger field.

Ok cool lets move lower into the atom now. So what is an atom? An atom is composed of electrons in the outer shell and protons and neutrons combined in a nucleus within. At this scale, sub-atomic, particles are just point charges. An electron has a negative charge, a proton positive, and a neutron neutral.

Ok so what, well a magnetic field is created from these particles, or in fact actually deeper into them, but let me explain. An electron is a point charge and this rotating point charge creates a magnetic field!

So after that brief physics lecture think about how the energy within a magnetic could be used to create a form of free energy. Now remember that free energy is not FREE, it in fact comes from somewhere, the heart of subatomic particles. So a more correct term is overunity.

Let me see what all of you can come up with, as in inventions. Everyone knows the world could use an alternative to oil!

So are you saying that electrons rotating on their own axis are creating a magnetic field?

Do you have any imagineful ideas for futuristic energy devices? I'd love to talk physics and get things rolling.

The thing is, I've been thinking even larger, or interconnected if you will. I want to bring biology and chemistry into physics so that we can find a way to never lose the energy... like a multienvironmental device that can constantly suck in and give off energy from its surroundings, perhaps electrons are the key... all elements have electrons. Electricity, yes... but in an advanced and more efficient form.

Actually I had been thinking about that. Nanorobots are made out of chains of molecules and they are getting more advanced like atoms. If it was someway possible to get the electrons inside of an atom to rotate or align as we want them to, then there could be a way to create some form of energy that could keep say a robot running.

The thing is that those atoms would have to be connected by say a magnetic field or a weaker magnetic field, becuase atoms are connected by a magnetic energy anyway.

And maybe we could find a configuration, true though that this would require a huge machine or maybe just complex to do this. Also this device would require massive energy which could be provided by say a much bigger overunity device.

Oh and I believe that the electron is a more massive thing created from electromagnetic fields. So If you can control the electron you control all of its subparts too. Remember how quantum physics says things can behave like particles and waves. Why? Because the waves are electromagnetic energy but as you move up to say an atom it looks like a particle.

Its pretty cool to think about it like that, and as for energy devices I think that it would have to incorporate magnetic fields, specifically rotating magnetic fields. Also it would need to be accelerate by an input force and then it could reach a self sustaining velocity.

Sounds completely viable. In fact I believe there is someone in Japan that has already created a perpetual motion machine made of magnetics, the only outside energy that it requires is a small boost to get it past magnetic field lock if you will... geesh, I should look up the formal terminology. Magnets will eventually lock in place at a specified velocity when rotating.

I was thinking of creating a machine that is biological and chemical that can literally suck the electricity out of the air or environment around it. Why not? Everything has energy. It could sustain its self because it is biological, basically a mechanical organism, either through enchanced photosynthesis (solar energy) or any other number of means. We could make it a part of the environment, like say how a tree plays a roll in the planet, etc. It would be multipurposefull, multienvironmental, possibly self reproductive... something that everyone could have access to, yet harmless and easy to use. Can't we just plug into a tree?

For a magnetic field to do actual work and produce energy it has to be made to move. Put a strong magnet next to a coil of wire and see how much energy you get with it stationary (none). But move the magnet and a voltage is generated and if applied to a load some power is transferred from the moving magnet to the load but always less than amount of energy expended in moving the magnet due to losses in the system. The best that could be hoped for is 100% efficiency if the moving magnet is frictionless and the coil is a superconductor. A transformer driven by alternating current is a good example of a high efficiency magnetic machine with no moving parts.

At a nano-scale level manipulation of magnetic domains has great potential for very efficient energy conversion - note I said 'conversion' which is very different to creating energy. Maybe Tesla did 'crack the code' for polarising & collecting the invisible cosmic energy that's all around us

We could encapsulate a rotary magnetic system with opposing magnetic forces or any other forces that would cause the apparatus to float. The inner area could be sucked of elements to create an artificial vacuum as best as capable. Place a three pronged circle in the center of opposing magnetic forces, the three arms strethcning out will be simply pushed by the oppositely polarized magnetic fields that are surrounding it. I have drawm up a schema for this, possibly it is easier to show than to explain.

It's basic and simple, really. Opposing magnets will keep themselves in motion. I'm still thinking of doing something more. I don't think solitary magnetics are efficient enough.

Possibly Tesla's greatest invention was a way to create a rotating magnetic field with no moving parts, control of direction and speed - the polyphase system. Modern electronics is taking this to a new level of sophistication.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying but I do have my own theory on positive and negative forces. We are all connected to the universe on a sub-atomic level. Every element that makes up our bodies came from the center of the Sun. There are 4 known laws of physics. Gravity, the weak and strong nuclear forces and magnetism. I actually think there are 2 more. Positive (love) and negative (hate). These forces are all around us. Take a simple digital circuit for example. They all operate on a one (positive) or a zero (negative). Imagine a sandwich with 2 pieces of bread and a piece of cheese in the middle. The bottom piece of bread is made from silicon and has a negative charge. The piece of cheese is made from germanium and is neutral and the top piece of bread is also made of silicon but has a positive charge. The negative is trying to reach the positive but can't because of the cheese in the middle called the base. But when a small current (outside influence) is applied to the base (free will) the base becomes invisible and allows the negative to chase the positive to turn on this and turn off that. It's what causes someone to use technology to build a medical device to save lives and someone to use technology to build a bomb to take life away. It's what causes someone to have one more drink and then drive. It's what causes someone to be happy and someone else to kill 8 people in a mall and then committ suicide. Either that or I'm full of crap and just bored on a Sunday afternoon. But there has to be an explanation for why people do bad things and I think the proof is that nobody is born a killer but that we are subjected to negative forces and we all deal with it differently.

Look I understand you want to be spiritual and meta physical but I would rather talk real physics here.

The Atlantean Tuaoi Stone Revisited

Back in the 70's, I became interested in an Atlantean energy machine described in the Edgar Cayce readings. The machine was called the "Terrible Crystal", or the "Tuaoi Stone," (pronounced "too-oye" 1) or the "Firestone" in the readings. Oddly enough, a "terrible crystal" is mentioned in the King James Version of the Bible, in Ezekiel 1:22, where he seems to be describing an extraterrestrial spacecraft

This curious Bible passage seems to indicate that, at the time it was written, the color of the terrible crystal was common knowledge because it was used to describe the color of the other strange object.

I wrote an article for the A.R.E. Journal2 in which I speculated on the nature of this machine. My conclusion at the time was that it was a gravity-wave generator. This conclusion was highly speculative because Albert Einstein had previously calculated that, if power were applied to a one meter cube of quartz crystal and the crystal were driven to the breaking point, the gravity waves produced would be orders of magnitude too weak to be detected. That the Terrible Crystal generated gravity effects is stated plainly in the following reading excerpt:


Before that we find the entity was in the Atlantean land when there were the preparations of those things that had pertained to the ability for the application of appliances to the various elements known as electrical forces in the present day; as to the manners and ways in which the various crafts carried individuals from place to place, and what may be known in the present as the photographing from a distance, or the fields of activity that showed the ability for reading inscriptions through walls - even at distances, or for the preparations of the elevations in the various activities where there was the overcoming of (termed today) the forces of nature or gravity itself; and the preparations through the crystal, the mighty, the TERRIBLE CRYSTAL that made for the active principles in these, were a portion of the activity of the entity in that experience.

Einsteins's calculation was based on the idea of using the acceleration of mass to generate gravity waves. But, because of the equivalence of mass and energy in the theory of relativity, gravity effects can also be produced, theoretically, by light.

Recently, my attention was drawn to an article in Physics Letters by Ronald L. Mallett3. The abstract for this paper reads, in part: "The gravitational field due to the circulating flow of electromagnetic radiation of a unidirectional ring laser is found by solving the linearized Einstein field equations at any interior point of the laser ring." In this article Dr. Mallett describes a ring laser that generates a gravitational field. As shown in Figure 1, adapted from a figure from Mallett's paper, laser radiation is caused to propagate around a square path in space by being reflected from four mirrors placed at the corners of a square.

The final result obtained by Mallett is simple and easy to understand. Light orbiting around a point in space generates a gravitational field. This should not surprise anyone because the reverse effect has already been observed. Light from a distant star travels in a curved path when it passes near the Sun because of the Sun's gravitational field. At least, that is the explanation according to Einstein's General theory of relativity. It seemed to me that Mallett's article applies directly to the Tuaoi Stone.

The main difference between Mallett's apparatus and the model of the Tuaoi Stone that I envisioned is that, in the case of the Tuaoi Stone model (see Figure 2), the light travels inside the transparent prism and reflects from the six facets in turn on the inside. That is, the light reflections all occur inside the prism. This makes perfect sense, because such reflections, unlike reflections from ordinary mirror surfaces, are characterized as "total internal" reflections because they exhibit no losses. This fact can easily be verified by consulting any good optics textbook. The total internal reflections in the right angle prisms incorporated in prism binoculars reduce light loss and are partly responsible for the bright images produced by such binoculars.

My model of the Tuaoi Stone is based in part on a Cayce reading excerpt that described the Tuaoi stone as being six sided and which even gave its color. (The reading was for an individual who wanted an "aura chart," or a chart painted to remind the recipient of memorable events in his/her past lives.):

For this entity, then, - in the center upon a board or paper, - we would begin with the stone as the light of the activities in the temple in the Atlantean-Poseidian era. This might be termed the TUAOI STONE - T-u-a-o-i. This would be a six-facet stone of the height, as to proportion, with the rest of the chart as may be indicated. The STONE OF THE TUAOI would be opalescent, while the light would be indicated from the top in the rays of the white light.

Note that "opalescent" presumably implies "showing changing colors like an opal," rather than any internal cloudiness of the crystal. (The Oxford Dictionary, American Edition).

My assumption is that the "Tuaoi" were the priesthood responsible for the operation of the energy machines, just as "NASA" is the organization responsible for the operation of the Space Shuttles. If history repeats itself, TUAOI might even be an acronym for the name of an Atlantean organization.

(Q) Going back to the Atlantean incarnation - what was the TUAOI STONE? Of what shape or form was it?

(A) It was in the form of a six-sided figure, in which the light appeared as the means of communication between infinity and the finite; or the means whereby there were the communications with those forces from the outside. Later this came to mean that from which the energies radiated, as of the center from which there were the radial activities guiding the various forms of transition or travel through those periods of activity of the Atlanteans.

It was set as a crystal, though in quite a different form from that used there. Do not confuse these two, then, for there were many generations of difference. It was in those periods when there was the directing of aeroplanes, or means of travel; though these in that time would travel in the air, or on the water, or under the water, just the same. Yet the force from which these were directed was in this central power station, or TUAOI STONE; which was as the beam upon which it acted.

About the FIRESTONE that was in the experience did the activities of the entity then make those applications that dealt with both the constructive and destructive forces in the period.

It would be well that there be given something of a description of this, that it may be better understood by the entity in the present, as to how both constructive and destructive forces were generated by the activity of this stone.

In the center of a building, that today would be said to have been lined with non-conductive metals, or non-conductive stone - something akin to asbestos, with the combined forces of bakerite [bakelite?] or other non-conductors that are now being manufactured in England under a name that is known well to many of those that deal in such things.

The building above the stone was oval, or a dome wherein there could be or was the rolling back, so that the activity of the stone was received from the sun's rays, or from the stars; the concentrating of the energies that emanate from bodies that are on fire themselves - with the elements that are found and that are not found in the earth's atmosphere. The concentration through the prisms or glass, as would be called in the present, was in such a manner that it acted upon the instruments that were connected with the various modes of travel, through induction methods - that made much the character of control as the remote control through radio vibrations or directions would be in the present day; though the manner of the force that was impelled from the stone acted upon the motivating forces in the crafts themselves.

There was the preparation so that when the dome was rolled back there might be little or no hindrance in the application direct to the various crafts that were to be impelled through space, whether in the radius of the visioning of the one eye, as it might be called, or whether directed under water or under other elements or through other elements.

The preparation of this stone was in the hands only of the initiates at the time, and the entity was among those that directed the influences of the radiation that arose in the form of the rays that were invisible to the eye but that acted upon the stones themselves as set in the motivating forces - whether the aircraft that were lifted by the gases in the period or whether guiding the more pleasure vehicles that might pass along close to the earth, or what would be termed the crafts on the water or under the water. These, then, were impelled by the concentrating of the rays from the stone that was centered in the middle of the power station, or power house (that would be termed in the present).

In the active forces of these the entity brought destructive forces, by the setting up - in various portions of the land - the character that was to act as producing the powers in the various forms of the people's activities in the cities, the towns, the countries surrounding same. These, not intentionally, were TUNED too high - and brought the second period of destructive forces to the peoples in the land, and broke up the land into the isles that later became the periods when the further destructive forces were brought in the land.

Through the same form of fire the bodies of individuals were regenerated, by the burning - through the application of the rays from the stone, the influences that brought destructive forces to an animal organism. Hence the body rejuvenated itself often, and remained in that land until the eventual destruction, joining with the peoples that made for the breaking up of the land - or joining with Baalilal [Baal? Belial?] at the final destruction of the land. In this the entity lost. At first, it was not the intention nor desire for destructive forces. Later it was for the ascension of power itself.

As to describing the manner of construction of the stone, we find it was a large cylindrical glass (as would be termed today), cut with facets in such a manner that the capstone on top of same made for the centralizing of the power or force that concentrated between the end of the cylinder and the capstone itself.

As indicated, [See 996-12] the records of the manners of construction of same are in three places in the earth, as it stands today: [1] In the sunken portions of Atlantis, or Poseidia, where a portion of the temples may yet be discovered, under the slime of ages of sea water - [2] near what is known as Bimini, off the coast of Florida. And [3] in the temple records that were in Egypt, where the entity later acted in cooperation with others in preserving the records that came from the land where these had been kept. Also the records that were carried to what is now Yucatan in America, where these stones (that they know so little about) are now - during the last few months - BEING uncovered.

Note that numbers 1-3 in the last paragraph above were inserted following W. Hutton and J. Eagle's rendering on pp. 351-353 of their book, Earth's Catastrophic Past And Future--A scientific analysis of information channeled by Edgar Cayce.4 These authors made a study of all of the readings bearing on the location of Poseidia, the last large island to survive until the final destruction of Atlantis. Poseidia, in the heart of the Atlantean land, was -- according to Hutton and Eagle -- located in the vicinity of the mid-Atlantic ridge south of the present Azores Islands.

There is also another way of interpreting this paragraph of 440-5, a way favored by Hutton and Eagle. It is that "the three places in the Earth" that are mentioned to hold the records that describe the construction of the great crystal are 1) ATLANTIS, consisting of (a) a temple in an area of sunken temples of Poseidia south of the Azores AND (b) a temple of the Poseidians in a portion of the land near Bimini; 2) EGYPT; and 3) YUCATAN.

With the above in mind, then, the picture of the Tuaoi Stone which emerges is that of a large right hexagonal-cross-section transparent cylindrical prism, say, two meters in diameter and ten meters long. The six sides are ground and polished to the precision and finish typical of a fine optical instrument. The fabrication of such a behemoth to such tight tolerances seems impossible today, and would not have been easy for the Atlanteans either, but I believe that the Firestone was the ultimate technical achievement of the Atlanteans and it represents the culmination of generations of development.

This huge machine is excited by an external laser directed at a facet near one end in a direction such that the beam inside the prism orbits around the axis of the prism, reflecting from each facet in turn, six reflections per revolution, and many thousands of revolutions, following a helical path. NOTE: A search on the Internet resulted in the discovery of a more recent paper5 by Mallett in which he calculates the strong gravitational field produced by a photonic crystal in which laser light is caused to orbit in just such a helical path.

This is analogous to a right-circular, cylindrical helical coil of copper wire carrying an electric current. When the orbiting laser beam reaches the end of the last facet at the far end of the crystal, a final reflection at the appropriate angle redirects the beam so that it continues orbiting in the same sense or direction, but the helical path now progresses back to the starting end of the prism. At the starting end of the prism, a similar reflection once again redirects the beam back toward the far end, and so forth, ad infinitum.

This is analogous to a multilayer coil of copper wire, with the ends connected together, carrying an electrical current. In other words, the laser beam would never be permitted to exit the prism. In this way, after the incident laser beam is turned on, the intensity of the resulting "wall of light" orbiting inside the prism would increase until losses due to photons interacting with imperfections in the prism equaled the power of the input laser.

No matter how perfectly transparent the prism was constructed, no matter how free of defects, this balance of input power against output losses would hold true; i.e., we have conservation of energy. At high power levels, these losses imply the generation of considerable amounts of heat, so the title "Firestone" is appropriate. Also, the resulting radiation of large amounts of heat might explain the Cayce reading's reference to the insulating materials, "akin to asbestos," used in the construction of the dome that housed the Firestone. To permit the prism to run continuously at high temperatures, the material of choice would probably be fused quartz, rather than glass, because of its higher melting temperature, although crystalline quartz might offer interesting possibilities for modulation. Of course, there would also be scattered light issuing forth from all of the facets, turning the room housing the prism into a well lighted place!

To maximize the flow of light energy, many high power source lasers of various colors could be placed in a circle around the prism and employed simultaneously. Using light sources of different colors or wavelengths would minimize interference problems where two or more beams happen to share a common area of a reflecting surface. Preferably, all of the lasers would be chosen to operate in the shortest wavelength ranges possible because the goal is to maximize the quantity of orbiting electromagnetic energy. (Recall that photon energy is proportional to the light frequency and inversely proportional to the wavelength,

where h is Planck's constant, c is the speed of light, ? is the frequency, and ? is the wavelength).

Ultraviolet lasers could be used if the prism were fashioned of pure silica because silica is relatively transparent in the ultraviolet. Orbiting X-rays or gamma rays would offer even higher energy densities if suitable prism materials and reflecting surface materials could be found. The source of the reading's description of the Firestone includes a capstone that directed an output beam from the prism. Evidently, once the gravitational field is generated by orbiting electromagnetic energy in the prism, it can then be reflected or directed somehow by a capstone. How such a device would function is anyone's guess.

Edgar Cayce's source stated that in its earlier forms, the Atlantean technology was not used for the generation of gravitational fields, but for communications, between "infinity and the finite" and for communications "with those forces from the outside", and that it was further developed later for more mundane purposes. A different, somewhat more exotic description was given by Phylos the Tibetan in a book that he dictated from the spirit plane and called A Dweller on Two Planets or the Dividing of the Way6 :

The great temple of Incal, called the Incalithlon was shaped like the Egyptian pyramid of Cheops. Within this, and in the most sacred place, was the Maxin. On a raised, triangular platform of red granite, several inches higher than the floor of the auditorium, and thirty-six feet between its points. In the very center of it was A LARGE BLOCK OF CRYSTAL QUARTZ, UPON THE PERFECT CUBE of which rose the Maxin, or Divine Light, a flame of light like a giant spearhead, of unwavering white glow. The great cube of quartz was five and a half feet on all sides. From platform to tip of flame, its height must have been over three times the height of a tall man. The flame made no heat, did not warm the quartz pedestal, was fatal to anyone who touched it; no oil, no fuel, no electric currents fed it; no man tended it. The story of its beginning is given as though it was brought into being by one who was the Son of God.

This description may pertain to one of these earlier forms. Incidentally, there is question about the validity of the material, particularly with regard to Phylos's dire predictions for the United States, in A Dweller on Two Planets. Cayce's source for reading 282-5 addressed this issue in the following reading excerpt:

(Q) Is the book A Dweller on Two Planets by Phylos the Tibetan based on truth, especially in its forecast for the United States of pages 418 to 422? [GD's note: Pages different in later editions.]

(A) As viewed by an entity separated from the whole, yes. As TRUTH, that may be implied by one that looks only to the Lamb, to the Son as a leader, no. Choose thou.

Today, our current technology is being used for ordinary communications. The U.S.A. is wired with thousands of miles of optical fibers which carry laser radiation for the transmission of TV, radio, and telephone signals. In the case of the Firestone, Edgar Cayce's readings didn't mention the coherent radiation from a laser, but rather talked about radiation from the Sun and stars, which is largely incoherent. In reading 877-26, he refers to etheric rays from the Sun:

The use of these influences by the Sons of Belial brought, then, the first of the upheavals; or the turning of the etheric rays' influence from the Sun - as used by the Sons of the Law of One - into the facet for the activities of same - produced what we would call a volcanic upheaval; and the separating of the land into several islands - five in number.

877-26; May 23, 1938

I assume by "etheric rays" that the source for Cayce's reading was referring to ordinary sunlight, not something mysterious and still unknown by modern science. One might conclude from the fact that the Atlanteans employed sunlight that coherence is not required to produce the effects that they obtained with the Firestone, as described in Edgar Cayce's readings. Indeed, Mallett's paper doesn't suggest that coherence is required. Rather, it seems clear that it is only necessary to put enough light energy into orbit, whether it is coherent, partially coherent, or incoherent.

It seems incredible that such a simple physical principle has not already been rediscovered by accident, just as, for example, Podkletnov's7 discovery of a gravitational shielding effect. (See THC's article entitled, The Readings' Anti-Gravity And Ocean-Floor-Gold Predictions Seem Confirmed). If someone did discover this simple principle, she has kept it secret.

If so, it wouldn't be the first time. In Atlantis, the secrets of the Firestone were kept "in the hands only of the Initiates."

And we note too, that we -- reading the Cayce material on the great crystal for true understanding -- are admonished as was Mr. 440-5 in his reading. He was told:

Not that [this] information may not be asked for, but be sure that the records are read -- and those that have been given may only be read by those who have cleansed themselves, or purified themselves!



The author, John Sutton, is a retired NASA research scientist who holds a Ph.D. degree in physics. At NASA, he designed instrumentation for rocket experiments and orbiting spacecraft. His most recent work involved the design of hypersensitive, infinite bandwidth antennae used for monitoring the Schumann earth-ionosphere cavity resonances and other related phenomena.

So I would rather consider here what CAUSES gravity? I believe that gravity is just a manifestation of other forces. Such as magnetic fields interacting or even more basic than that. If light has a method to produce gravity then that means subatomic particles and smaller is where gravity comes from.

I do not like Einsteins concept of gravity as simple as something having mass because it doesn't go into detail. He says that a massive object has gravity but what are objects made out of. Matter and matter is very possibly interacting electromagnetic waves.

Also think about this, when an electron moves what is left in its place? Could it be that in a sense the electron is a positive amount of matter and what was left behind is not 0 but negative. I don't mean these positive and negatives as charge I mean them as space.

You people are way over my head. Why not just use a large crystal and apply a small current to get it to vibrate at a specific freguency and use a frequency to voltage converter, amplify the voltage and put it directly into a dc motor to operate a car or whatever. Free constant energy that never needs to be replaced and zero emissions.

Very nice video I was already aware of this but it was very interesting to see this on video for the first time. Well If anything this proves that, or at least suggests that electrons are bundles of electromagnetic energy.

It drops its superposition when watched, not becuase it is aware of it but becuase in order to measure something has to be emitted for the measurement device. Which also collides with some photonic theories. This must mean that a measurement device must emit some form of energy that was not there before.

Ok and mutant alien, please try and elaborate. I mean not to bash you or anything but that is like saying why not fill a gas engine with water and let it run. Why does your idea make sense to you? I mean I see what you mean but explain to others.

I think that resonance plays a HUGE role in the world of physics and that it is definitely an energy to be tapped because at resonance, many many things need very little force to move. And don't you think someone would have tried that by now

I've thought about this topic before. However, i don't think that we can create an engine to provide energy without inputting energy in the engine at least once to get it starting. Also, a perfectly efficient engine is not possible because of friction. If we can somehow eliminate the effect of friction, then we can make 100% efficient engines that once energy enters the system, it is never lost.
Now if we look at magnets, we could store the energy transferred from another system to a magnet system. For example, if we had a tube with a magnet on one side and a spring system on the other with a second magnet attached to the end of the spring, a small push or pull to compress the spring would make the spring decompress and push the magnet attached to the end of the tube where the first magnet was. Now, if we arrange the magnets such that they have the same poles, the magnets would repel and the spring is compressed again:

I can already see the problem in such design, the movement of the magnet is slowed down by friction from the walls of the tube and drag from the air inside the tube. Also, the springs have a damping factor, which slows down the spring to a halt eventually. The first problem could be solved by making the magnet small so it doesn't touch the walls of the tube and a vacuum could be created to lessen the effect of drag, but since all springs have a damping factor, this design cannot be 100% efficient.

Now i was also thinking of another system:


a small iron object is placed inside a circular tube. The object must be small enough so it does not touch the walls of the tube and the tube must be emptied of air. magnets directed at an angle to either pull or push the object up until it passed the top of the circle, thats when gravity does its work and pulls the object down. The object is then pulled up by the magnets when it reaches the bottom and so on the cycle continues.

severals problems with this system as well:
1. there is no perfect vacuum
2. extremely strong magnets must be used
3. millimeter alignment + spacing is needed to keep the cycle going like it should
4. the object must not touch the walls of the tube

The problem there is that if you extract energy from the system it will slow down until the energy is replaced. Easy to observe with a motor - load the shaft and it slows down and heats up due to the increased current drawn as the back emf reduces.

You might say aha - what about a synchronous motor
The same principle applies there but what what happens is the load causes the angle by which the rotor lags the rotating magnetic field (called the load angle) to increase and that angle is proportional to the current drawn by the motor. Actually driving the rotor harder than it would normally turn at no load results in a reversed load angle and the motor then generates power.

Even if friction is totally eliminated, say by using magnetic flotation bearings and running it in a vacuum, there are still copper losses (I^2.R) in the windings and iron losses (hysteresis) in the magnetic circuit to overcome. The alternators in modern gas or steam turbine power stations are actually filled with hydrogen to minimise windage losses but the copper losses will require superconductors and the iron losses need a more perfect magnetic material (no hysteresis).
