It's quicker because the debugging code is out of the latest version of SAH. Benchmarking measures the speed of your processor. BOINC does this
automatically, but you can repeat it whenever you want. The results are shown in the Messages tab.

BOINC v3.06 has been released on all platforms to the Alpha test. This is a debug version, so you'll have to rerun your benchmarks.

Here's the latest on BOINC:
For those who are concerned about the benchmarks as it relates to the public launch, they'll be incrementing the major version on the build that will
be released as the public launch build. It is expected that the source trees will fork sometime this week and the lockdown of the features set for
public launch will begin.
Failures rates for all platforms have decreased.
Pass Percentage by Platform
Date Version Platform Total Results Pass Rate Fail Rate
05-31-04 305 Darwin 222 100.00 0.00
05-31-04 305 Linux 1852 95.46 4.54
05-31-04 305 SunOS 24 75.00 25.00
05-31-04 305 Windows 16871 97.76 2.24
In my opinion, I think the release is very close. Maybe 1-2 months.
Here's the number of bugs for M1 release:
critical-1
high-5
medium-10
low-13
This doesn't include server bugs.
Watch this thread for updates.

BOINC v3.07 and SAH v3.07 has been released to beta for all platforms. All clietns on all platforms should rebenchmark their computers. The minimum
core version has been set to v3.07, so if your core client (BOINC) version is older than that you won't receive any new workunits.

From what was said in the beta test forums by a developer "Fine come back in two months then, you'll just be behind the rest of the Beta testers who
have already signed up to the public project and are working with the real thing.", it seems that within 2 months it's expected that BOINC will
launch.

To quote a developer "We have achieved the goals set out for the M1 public launch. Now we start our drive for the M2 milestone which we consider our
fit and finish release and when completed, it will mark the begining of the decommissioning process for SAH v1. Now the timeframe for M2 hasn't been
finalized yet, so I don't know how long we are expecting to take with it."
BOINC is very close

Thanx xn for the continued updates on BOINC as always!! Well, the ATS SETI@home team are *trying* to achieve 150kWU's before we change over to BOINC
but rest assured we'll be giving it full throttle when M2 is reached!!
Let's go teams!!

The url of the beta test is now setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu... The old "maggie" url won't work anymore. If you're seeing "can't contact
scheduler" messages, please switch to the new url by detaching from the project, then reattaching to the above url using your original account ID.
New Seti@home page here: setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu...
On June 5, 2004: The project was shut down for about 12 hours while they removed the uniqueness constraint on SETI@home classic user ID (this was
preventing new accounts from being created).
Seti@home on BOINC is getting closer...

Some form of database corruption has occurred in the results table. The database is currently running a repair operation. It's unknown how long this
process will take to complete.

www.climateprediction.net...
This distributed computing project is ready for BOINC... almost.
The site says "a full release should be ready by mid-late summer" They hope to begin beta testing in July.
A full release would be sometime between July and Mid-September, so it's expected that BOINC will release before then.
M1- public launch
M2- decommission of Seti@Home
M3- other projects
Could this mean that we'll reach M3 by Mid-September...

For those who are aware of the Seti BOINC site, please don't upgrade until you have received an email from Berkeley stating it is time to make the
switch. This site is different from the Alpha and Beta test sites. However, if you're a beta tester you may switch to the S@H project on BOINC when
told to do so from the beta test. I will post here when I've received word about switching to the S@H project on BOINC for testing (before the
launch). This will be done because the site url was leaked to the beta test forums and the site isn't ready yet. Berkeley doesn't want everyone to
switch to the S@H BOINC project yet because it may limit the testing on alpha/beta builds of BOINC, which would allow more bugs to ship with BOINC. If
anyone has questions concerning BOINC in general or S@H on BOINC, feel free to ask me.

Ach, I had switched my beta machine over to the new project URL with the migrated UID to see how it worked. -It was perfect, by the way.- It will have
to run like that until Monday when I can get access to it again, but I'll put it back on the beta. The whole BOINC program has been pretty
uneventful for me, I am pleased to report.

Going by the notes I made for myself, setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu... is the one it is using. To confirm I will have to wait until
after the weekend. I figured I was doing something screwy because I was the only one showing credit on the team stats page,
setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu...
