It's possible.. but not practicabe, you would loose the benefits of a helicopter ie it's manoeuvrability and landing capability but you would scale up its fuel requirements (helicopters are naturally more thirsty than planes).

That said, if you are familiar with the v-22 Osprey you may know that they are planning a 4 roter version that would be similar in size to a c-130 Herc... That is gonna be one impressive beast if they go ahead and make it.
