Sounds like that kids game "Simon" which allowed the player to attempt to match a sequence of tones.. In this test particular test I guess it was visual in recognizing the numbers as well as the locations. I wonder if the chmps were trained and awarded food/treats when they did well? Maybe if they awarded students say beer they would have performed better.
