Archivist's Notes: This document contains a Central Intelligence Agency, Foreign Broadcast Information Service, report of a UFO sighting from
Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on September 13, 1989. The object is described as saucer shaped with a black gap on its
edge, rotating at a high rate of speed. The object exited a cloud, hovered over the area for a minute, then finally departed in a southwest direction.
The document quality is good, with few redactions.

on sep 13 1989 in urumqi, china, a city worker saw a dark cloud light up which then made a golden coloured flash. a saucer shaped object with a black
gap on it's edge then appeared (this reminds me of the shape that is seen often in space and also of the chinese dropa stone
see link for shapes ) which proceeded to hover for a minute before becoming surrounded by a
red and yellow light. it rotated at high speed and sped off to the southwest. the worker reported it made sound louder than a car engine.
it seems there are a large number of coded recipients to this report and odd among them is the inclusion of "fbis london bbc" alongside what seems
to be only military/intelligence/defence establishments. perhaps someone more knowledgeable could shed some light on the coded classifications here.

I too found the recipients rather suggestive. Along with the one to "FBIS...BBC" I was struck by a couple more.
The one "COMUSKOREA INTEL SEOUL KOR" would hint that there was some concern that the object was at least suspected of being of North Korean
origin.
Also, the one marked CDR4THPSYOPGP FT BRAGG NC is suggestive of the same thing with the possibility that the originator thought this might be either
one of "ours" or "theirs" with some use of some psyops value.
It seems this was a report taken with a great deal of interest by someone, as I find it hard to believe that routine UFO reports would be sent to so
many places without more to the story than we have with this small document. I wish we had some reports of follow up on this.

Sounds a lot like the UFO's seen around the space shuttle missions.
