DissInfo within Viral Marketing

When something unexplainable presents itself to us we try our hardest to come up with as many logical or even illogical ideas of what it may be; in the hope of easing our curiosity.

I had a thought; about the fact, that when viral marketing is discovered in association with a product, the investigation goes dead, everyone thinks they were deceived and walks away; almost embarrassed.

I think it could be possible that when something is leaked of significant importance, this method of dissinformation through false viral marketing could be/ may have already been used.

Ex: The vulnerable party pays a private company to market a product to make the leak appear fake (If you catch my drift)

Just a thought, but I am going to take a look back over some of the previous Viral threads here on ATS and see if I can spot any potential leads.

Smoke', I like your way of thinking. The Drones - Alienware viral seems totally social-engineered to me. Some of it seems to be a "snowball" of sleaze, my worst suspicions are that corps. invented it - not individuals.

Too many rocks to look under - lying for profit isn't such a new thing but the way it occurs and is disseminated virally is new, morphing and growing. Every sleazeball and their crews are doing it. Apparently the "new-ethics" of this century are geared for LCD penetration.

I've grown up in this "disease" and we're all victims, even those who would victimize for their own personal gain are unwittingly (despite claims to the contrary) furthering the dumbing-down of their own world - and they think they're "smart" and "hip" and "facilitative' and "enabling". Not!

I characterize some of it as "not a threat" but the methodolgy is a subliminal of a type I rate right down-there with kiddie-porn and identity theft and cyber-stalking.

I am going to stray off topic early, you managed to touch on something that I have been thinking about for a little while now, in fact ever since the drone threads appeared.

It was not realy the Alienware connection that made me think out loud (although I think I understand that dissinfo is generaly progressive) but more so the photo's themselves.

Very quickly (but not too quickly) after the release of the first drone photo was released a second photo was added to the mix, was it added to discredit the first or maybe quickly layed out before the first because of the pending release of an original?

Anyway the show went on for months before it started to wind down and almost dissapear around the alienware release.

Dont get me wrong; this is not a drone thread and to be honest I was hoping not to bring the drone in to this thread to soon because 99% of what could be said already has been, this imagining can work for any theory or sighting.
