Don't you have to be active in the military to fly one of these or own them?

Would think experience in military aircraft would be a plus. Would think it would be a lot different than training on a cesna.

I don't believe you'd be able to fly it for a number of reasons.

~mistaken identity
~wondering wherever/chance fo getting shot down
~active duty hornet pilots probably wouldn't approve of it.

If you could fly it, it would be fun to go supersonic! It would piss a lot of people off too, but would be fun!

I you wanna fly supersonic over residential areas, you'd have to be pretty high up because screamin' over citys/towns at those speeds is illegal.....even though it's happend to me up north by an f/a-18 that was stationed at china lake.

If memory serves me correct, Class C and D airspace, at or below 2,500 feet above the surface and within 4 NM of the primary airport, speeds are limited to 200 knots (230 mph).

The seller is selling some other odd things. Like 2 million feet of Fiber for 4.4 mil. If I had the money and they would let me fly it, I would buy the F/A 18 in a heartbeat!

They break this on the regular. I was talking to a pilot from VMF-322 and he said he goes 400 knots over whatever he wants, no one enforces this rule. I have hornets go supersonic over my house in SC all the time. Always breakin' # too.

*EDIT: Back to topic, I would give my left nut for this piece of hardware

haha, yes it would...

and you can buy f-16's as well.. but if it's a blue angel do you have any idea how many hours that plane would have on it? i'd be scared to touch it for fear it would fall apart.

i saw a special on the blue angels once on tv... i can't remember exactly, but the navy gives them those planes after some inane amount of airframe hours. i think it was like 2,500 or more... and that's a buttload for a military craft

Hmm this brings up a memory of mine.
I saw on history channel that in 2006, these new small light aircraft that can reach 600 mph will start to go to sell for about 2.5 mil.

Pricey but worth it
