Well, Bush has come through on most of his promised, militarily at least. No one wants to play a guessing game when the world's most powerful weapons are targeted on you.

When someone points a gun at you and says "Don't move" chances are that you aren't going to go and check to see if their gun is loaded, or keep on moving. Everyone has an instinct to preserve their own lives atleast, and thusly won't move. Now replace that gun with a nice weapons grade plutonium warhead, and the two people with two countries and suddenly it no longer matters what the other guy has, he'll listen to the country with the nuke.

Airborne, the policy of defending Taiwan goes back a lot farther than Bush - look up the Taiwan Relations Act of '79.

Dudedont even BEGIN to talk about the Presidential pardon crap. What did your boy Slick Willey do as he was leaving office? Sat down and pardoned over a hundred people, including a felon who fled the states to avoid prosecution, and he did it because he was a huge monetary contributor! He had a good looking wife too, so Im betting she was under the desk With Monica. Oh, almost forgot about a president that commits perjury while in office and finally admits it after he is caught with his pants down, so to speak.

Shot down a plane, eh? Yeah, it was shot down with a BB gun by a kid in a field in Pa. How about some proof? You have none, just a wild azz guess, and its not right. Its been positively proven that the passengers attempted to take back the plane, and it crashed. Flight deck tapes and flight data recorders dont lie. Oh, I forgot, as far as you are concerned, everyone in the government lies about everything, unless they are a democrat.

AF-1lets see, someone said that it was armed, and always flew around with fighter escorts. WRONG!!! Not armed with any offensive weapons at all. Fighter escorts; well, they did send up an escort on 9/11, and that was a smart thing, but there are NO fighters escorting AF-1 every where it goes. As far as the stops, the Secret Service (they dont like it if you say SSto many bad connotations ) was in complete control, and the stops were made to thwart any person who may have been tracking them. Contrary to popular belief, AF-1 is not a stealth bird, and its pretty hard to hide on takeoff, approach and landing. No propaganda, just the plain truth. Hurts, dont it? As for the Prez having balls, hes got em. Proved it many times. As a matter of fact, Id bet my paycheck for a year that he could kick your azz

Bush went AWOLdude, thats just friggin stupid. If it was true, he wouldnt be president, as being AWOL is a felony. Cant be president if youre a felon. Cant even vote! That site you pointed to? Come onyou are really showing your stupidity there by posting that. A full site dedicated to Republican/Bush bashing. Real bastion of truth there. I believe more stuff from the National Enquirer than that drivel. But, in this tit for tat world, (hu huI said tit!) Ill post this site to show what your boy Al Bore has been up to, after he left Viet Nam after only 5 months where he served as an Army Journalist. Wowtough duty there. Hope he didnt get too many paper cuts or carpal tunnel syndrome. www.realchange.org...

CEOs having affairs is a mute point, has no bearing on Clinton. He was the PRESIDENT! He is to be held to a higher standard than some money grubbing CEO! He shamed the office, not to mention the nation, with his philandering and then lied about it under oath. Unacceptable. If GWG did it, I would say the same thing. That depends on what your definition of is is, huh?

Working on limited intelligence. Boy, you hit it on the head there. He is very limited in his intelligence. But on the serious side, his actions in the missile strike were pisspoor at best. That crap you posted about the CIA? Proof, boy. Hes the one who slashed the CIA budget for HUMINT and said we could do it all by satellite. What a frigging idiot. And history proves it. He did more to screw up our intelligence machine than all the spies in history put together. And where do you get this information on a secret agreement, eh? If you have such info, share it with us in a format that proves it. Just because you say it, doesnt make it so

And buddy, dont you EVER question my patriotism. Ive been proving mine for the last 20 years, putting my life on the line so dumbasses like you keep your right to be a dumbass. Im not a partisan, I have voted for democrats in the past, as I vote for the person who I feel will do the best job, not for what party they belong to.

What have YOU done?

Oh, and dude, I dont do drugs. Ill leave that up to you. Please, put down the crack pipe and join the human race.

I understand that there has always been a policy towards defending Taiwan, but it has never been an outright admission of policy until Bush singelhandedly changed that with his comments. The US policy was one of ambiquity so as not to worsen relations with china.

As far as the comments about the loaded gun...I understand where you are coming from. But, the thing is that it is pretty obvious that Saddam doesn't care about sacrificing his troops or his civilians. I don't think that he is afraid that HE would die in a nuclear attack, so why would he care if anyone else does?

Affirmative Reaction..... I respect your opinions, but the truth of the matter is that under Clinton the US economy soared, unemployment was down, consumer confidence was up. I am sorry, but Bill Clinton was one of the smartest, and best Presidents that we have ever had. Just because he wasn't allied with big business, didn't want to ruin the Arctic national wildlife refugee Republicans hate him. So he selpt with an intern and lied about it......I ask you to recall the days of a certian Richard Nixon and his subsequent pardon. That was far worse a crime than anything clinton ever did!

Af, I dont understand what you mean about China - the policy has been there for a long time. In my opinion it was prudent to reiterate our stance on defending Taiwan as China continually points missiles across the Taiwan Straight. A tight rope no doubt the US will come to their aid, doesnt want Taiwan to declare independence, supports peaceful reunification, yet arms Taiwan to the teeth.

Dont give Clinton all the credit for the 90s what about the Contract with America

Clinton wasn't allied with business? They all are, my friend! Nixon was a boy scout compared to Clinton.

Saddam is looking to become a martyr to the muslim cause. He won't do that by sacrificing his own people to American warheads. As every other world player he wants to be in good stead when he is finally removed from his position. He'll either go out as a martyr or a victor. Either way he'll be "defending Islam" as to stir up anti-western populations.

He didn't use WMD in the Gulf War when he had a lot more freedom and effectiveness to do so, why would he now? A last resort sort of attack would do nothing but sour the Muslim's opinion of Saddam (who refers to himself as a modern day Saladin)

The 1979 Taiwan Relations Act, requires US presidents to provide Taiwan with the means to defend itself, it does not specify US military involvment definitly. It was not until dubbyah's comments that the ambiguity was defined.

Fine, Clinton was no boy scout, and all the gains of the 90's were not all his doing. BUT, you can not deny that Monica Lewinsky was blown WAY out of perportion. You can also not deny that Clinton was a genius dedicated to his country.

And yes, all Presidents are allied with business, of course, it is the only way to get elected. BUT, Clinton never caved into it so much as Bush has. Bush is a puppet for the oil industry. Repealing clean air emmission standards, drilling in the ANWR, he is doing more harm than good.

He didn't use WMD in the gulf war because he knew that it would get him overthrown. The US was able to go into the Persian Gulf under the asumption that it was there to liberate a country, not regime change. If we go in now he knows he is the target. He wont have a choice. And if it is a martyr that he wants to be, well there is only one way to do that.....to die.

That is your opinion, and you are welcome to it. However, the prosperity seen in the country during his time was due to the hard work of congress, the American people, and the superior financial knowledge of Alan Greenspan. Clinton was a hack with charisma, capable of swaying people to his side of the coin, especially women. If you think he was such a great president, ask some Arkansasn what he did for Arkansas during his Governorship. While Governor, Arkansas went into the toilet, being last in so many things it's deplorable, such as health care for children (50th), test scores in elementary, middle, and high school (50th), and percapita income (49th). Of course, Arkansas was number one in a few areas as well. Teenage prenancy among 12 to 14 year olds (1st), and venerial desease among middle school students (2nd). Now there's a record to be proud of, eh?

Funny how his Lt. Governor, Jim Guy Tucker, went to prison shortly after Billary left the state for Washington, and now he lives in NY instead of his "home state". His library is here, why isn't he??? Wouldn't you think Hillary would run for Senate in her own state??? Hmmmm........

And that's MY opinion.

COME ON. Realtions with China are worsening because of the past ambiguity of US-Taiwanese policy. The Chinese are going to keep pushing until they hit a wall. Hopefully George W, will be that wall.

If you ask me Bush is not the "wall" that we need with China. Bush is itching to go to war so bad he probably has had the button make up into a medicalert beeper that he can wear around his neck for easy access.

We need someone in the white house whose forgien policy experience is broader than Higlights For Kids

Thank God Bush doesn't think like you. Your views on Taiwan are so obviously wrong.

I have not expressed my opinion about Taiwain yet, I have only stated what has been us policy. Since you seem to want my opinion though, I think that the US is risking too much by continuing to offer support to a cold war relic with no real political value. The only thing that we use Tawain for its child labor. Lets face it the US presence in Tawain is similar to the Soviet presence in Cuba...and look how well that worked out. Want to buy a bomb shelter?

NEED I SAY MORE

Do you some more reading. Thn maybe you'll be able to put up a logical argument as to why the US shouldn't defend Taiwan. Until then.....

U-P,

1) I'd rather be a sweet dreamer than anything.

2) Einstein was one, Tesla was one, Edison was one, Kekule was one etc...

3) "Unfortunatley, sweet dreamers like you, when they see their dreams who are comming true, realise that their dreams were just nightmares !"

Is that true??

4) "See what's happened with Dalladier & Chamberlain ! May be it will help you to understand. Or may be for you they were heros ?"

I don't even know who you are talking about.

5) "You can do peace when the others want to do peace. When they don't want, you can argue for ever if you want, they will not care and they'll attack you !"

That's because of the hatred that's been building into their minds for years and years and years. They don't even think about it anymore (just like you do). It has become automatic.
This is no justification though. Hatred is not something that comes natural.

1) So, you think that I'm nothing ?

2) Yeah, Einstein. The guy who gave us the A-bomb, and after, was crying on his mistake.

3) See point 2.

4) Im' not surprised.

These 2 assholes are the guys who told us that Adolf Hitler was not a warlord and didn't have any bad intentions, and that we didn't have to take any military actions against him. They were thinking that the war was impossible and Hitler was a peaceman ! Normaly, you know the rest of the story....

5) Let me use your words please : " That's because of the hatred that's been building into their minds for years and years and years. They don't even think about it anymore (just like you do). It has become automatic.

EXACTELY, YOU RIGHT AND I AGREE WITH YOU ! They hates us and they want to kill us. But that's EXACTELY why I don't like them. Don't tell me that you like/love your ennemy, I'll not believe you.

We were living in peace, we were cool and....BAM !!! " Take this in your tooth., fuc*% Westerners ". Hey , wake up man ! I wonder in wich world you are living.
