We have two old desk tops but one is exclusively for music. I also modified a microwave oven into a computer for use in the kitchen.

As for posting on ATS, I mostly use an HP laptop with XP Media Edition. It's very handy to be able to move from room to room and not need to worry about wires, and I can toss it in a bag when I need to travel.

I'm surprised people even buy desktops anymore.

As above.

Apart from when I'm at work - various locations - and then it's the LT!

I have both. When want to lie in bed, laptop is great. When sitting at desk, desk top is great. I like them both.

Or you can do what I do. I have a laptop with a port replicator. When I want to travel, I pop it out of it's station and wander with it. When I'm at home and need to do serious work on a reasonably sized screen and a decent sized keyboard, I plug the bad boy in and get it running.

I have a home desktop too, but it's nowhere near as fast or powerful as my laptop.

I've also got a port replicator attached to my projector for when I need to play my games larger than life.

That sounds cool man, what do you have to do ? I'm guessing that you have to plug in your mouse , keyboard and screen to the laptop and walahh! You have a desktop situation.

Actually, with a port replicator or docking station all you need to do is plug all of the peripherals into the replicator. Then, when you want to remove your laptop, just click"undock" then press the release button. The laptop pops right out and there's no need for excess plugging and unplugging of all of the periphs.

I have a Dell laptop and a few of these just lying around the house.
