Adaption is the way forward.
How did you miss the part about that is what the we are all suggesting?
We need to adapt to the reality that our lifestyle is making our home uninhabitable.
Part of that adaptation is to recognize our role in climate change and to change our behaver accordingly.
Stopping human injection of GHG into the atmosphere overnight is not possible, and even if it were, you are right, the effects of GHG already injected
would continue (temperature increase lags behind the GHG increase by several years). And will continue for hundreds of years (CO2 stays in the
atmosphere for hundreds of years).
That is no excuse for burying our collective heads in the sand and giving up. We can slow the process by slowing our emission of CO2.
Denial is pessimistic. Action is optimistic.
