Defending him by pointing out the faults of others? Let's try and defend Bush and Cheney without bringing others into the discussion. Can we do that? Or do you guys need to bash Clinton in order to "defend" Bush?

Everything that you are blaming on Bush and Cheney, should be blamed directly on congress. You want to impeach someone, impeach congress. They are the true culprets, they are the ones who blindly signed the Patriot Act, they are the ones who have been bought by Special Intrest groups. I dont hear any of you complaining about how they want YOU to give up your hard earned lively hood to fund their queer programs. More then the majority of you are complacent with the fact that Congress wants the US to be the Next Socialist/Communist super power and YOU are the ones giving up YOUR power.

The President nor the Congress Hold ANY Power. You are the ones who hold the Power. But your so dang lazy and blind your letting it happen in the Name of a False Freedom, usually, Free Speech.

I must have missed where it was Clinton's fault that we use torture now and have lost some of our rights due to the patriot acts. Can you point to me where? Thanks.

7. condoned the torture of prisoners in violation of the Geneva Conventions, the US anti-torture

It’s easy to sit back in the armchair and say that torture cannot be used. But when you’re in the foxhole, it’s a very different deal. And I respect, I think we all respect, that the President’s in the foxhole every day.

Charles Schumer (D) New York

Do you think there would even be a Patriot Act to rant about if clinton had taken care of (the country's) business while he was in office.

Please recall that the Patriot Act was the direct result of the 9/11 attacks which were the direct result of clinton not doing his job.

It's really crystal clear if you really want to try and understand.

Oh please, you want me to get on here and post all the bible verses (probably also mis-translated and out of context, like yours) commanding christians & jews to do unspeakable things to non-christians and non-jews?

I thought this was going to be a real discussion, never mind. Debating with people who respond with false & mis-leading "proof" is an exercise in futility.

You underestimate the power of the people. Long ago people said there would never be a Civil War and the South said the slaves would NEVER be free.

Don't be so sure. We are living in volatile times and the people are pissed off. This country has NEVER been more divided.

If these two prickwads are not impeached- the people are likely to drag them into the streets and lynch them. Seriously, its that bad.

Really? Didn't take them long to draft it up. What are they speed writters?

The USA PATRIOT Act is an Act of Congress which President George W. Bush signed into law on October 26, 2001.

A whole month to write that thing?

Or are we being a little disingeneous by saying it was a direct result of 9/11?

Remember PNAC? If not, look it up.

Yes, it's crystal clear how they want us squabbling over things like this isn't it?

"Divided we fall".

Brilliant thought process. As long as you get Bush and Cheney.....who cares what LBJ and CLinton did.

You just have to love the mindset of a liberal.

I love how you guys always turn this into us being liberals.

I'm pretty sure BillyBob is a Libertarian like myself. You know...like the republican party used to be? Less government intrusion and such.

Can you prove without a doubt that no torture ever took place under any other President?

I find it extremely unlikely that there has never been other cases of torture, including while Clinton was in office. Stuff like this happens all the time, its just that the media hates our President so much they are more willing to report it in order to smear him and his constituents.

By the way...in my opinion.....everything is Clinton's fault (see even republicans can sound like democrats!!!

Hello,

My $0.02

(I admit, I jumped to the end, just responding to the premise of the thread topic).

Our Nation, whatever it's perceived flaws today, was nevertheless founded on heroic principles in an attempt to escape subjugation and control by the 'ruling' class, i.e., the 'Crown' of the era. Yes, oversimplified, I know.

My point is, this great experiment SHOULD NOT be allowed to be taken over. Our Nation belongs to us, the People. We do not belong to the wealthy over-seers, we do not belong to to the 'ruling' class, in the pockets of Multi-National Corporations. Seems the new 'Crown' isn't much different from the one two centuries ago...it's about owning the wealth and wielding the power.

No I can't. But, the difference is that this admin is blatant about it. And have passed "laws" making it A-OK.

Still grabbing at the Dems vs. Reps huh?

How many times do I have to say that I am neither?

I rarely pull a 'quote' down, I don't really like to read others' posts when they do, so forgive me...this one time.

Torture...Dems vs. Reps...

Look, no one on EITHER side is perflectly clean, IMO. What I am going to suggest is a return to basics...Humanity should trump greed, ego, et al, and a deep understanding of Human Rights ought to prevail. Perhaps that is a naive opinion...if so, then so be it. How do we separate the foibles of Humans from the Ideal of a perfect Government? I am at a loss to answer......

So off topic, but you could.

However, the HUGE difference would be that CURRENTLY Christians and Jews ARE NOT following those ancient teachings and maiming and killing innocent people in the name of their religion.

Now about the impeachment vote by a tiny fringe group of attorneys with a known far-left bias?

Its not that the administration has been blatant about it, no one would be that stupid. (Go ahead, I know your dying to say they are!!) The media has been relentless in trying to bring down the Bush administration so they play the same card over and over again. They play it so that it seems they are blatant, so people assume they are being blatant. You know what they say about people who assume.....Don't you?

anhinga i think karlhungis is correct in a way-not only is it too late to change the course of history now for the last year----------but by the time impeachment went thru the legal time delays to the end of 2008 due to the laws being changed aftermath to 9-11---------------my guess is we havent seen anything yet-------- that we more than likely will see nukes being used to subdue iran and a few other countries that support it and so get in the way of bushes "democracy"

"writers" not "writters"?

How soon we (well, some of us anyway) forget the political climate directly after 9/11. People demanded and the president and congress (republicans and even dems, too!) responded with what they thought at the time was the right thing to do. But anyway, if you are now suggesting that the president needs to be impeached for the Patriot Act, which took approval from congress to enact? You'll need to impeach just about everyone on Capitol Hill if that is really your contention.

Which reminds me that someone on this thread posted previously that they had a dream that one day the president would revoke the Patriot Act. Uh, in fact, that would also require an act of congress (republicans and even dems, too!) to accomplish. The president doesn't have the power to do that.
