How useful would this be as an air defense system given the technical challenges and the likely future threat? Also, stilly reporters, it's DDG-1000, not DDG-100...

Looks pretty nice, but they will have to put those weapons defending the power plants before anything else, with a 3 million amp´s to feed it, or just hope no one cuts the power cables.

3 million amps isn't actually all that much, and these are probably going to be close coupled to dedicated submarine style nuclear reactors
