WASHINGTON — On the eve of the Annapolis summit on the Middle East conflict, the Saudi royal family released 1,500 members of Al Qaeda from prison, requiring them only to promise to refrain from jihad within the Arabian Peninsula.

It is troubling that the Saudi's would do this just before the Annapolis summit, like playing both sides of the fence IMO.

The released promised to refrain from jihad in the Arabian peninsula...

What exactly is the Arabian peninsula? Saudi Arabia?

Does this mean they are free to jihad everywhere else?

Please help me understand what Saudi Arabia just did by releasing these prisoners.

Are they 1500 people that should be worried about?

they are not al qaeda,they are various lesser prisoners and opponents branded as al qaeda in order to gain political kudos with america.

the saudi regime are terrorists themselves,a fully fledged monarchistic dictatorship.did you know there are around 700 royal "princes"!?

without saudi,america would be seriously weakened.
