PREMIER John Brumby has joined sports stars to demand a Melbourne council welcomes back a group of children banned from its parks.
Glen Eira Council did not confront the kids on a bylaw-breaking afternoon fitness session yesterday, but the council hadn't backed down on its controversial stand.
Last week, a council officer ordered eight children from three families out of Princes Park in Caulfield.
Council said the after-school enthusiasts were an organised sporting group, and could not use the area without a permit.
