Iran Says It's Produced New Missile

apnews.myway.com

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Iran said Tuesday it has manufactured a new missile with a range of 1,200 miles capable of reaching Israel and U.S. bases in the Mideast, the official news agency IRNA reported.

Iran's Defense Minister Gen. Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said the Ashoura missile was produced by factories affiliated with the ministry, according to IRNA. He did not say whether Iran has test fired the missile or has plans to do so.

Many of Iran's weapons development claims have not been independently verified.

Sounds fishy to me, but then again, it isn't impossible for them to build such a weapon. Anyway, this could give a boost to ABM project in eastern Europe.

"There are no American infidels in Baghdad. Never!"

Ah, I love war propaganda. At it's best it's slightly believeable, but this is no were near that mark. No doubt that they have tested a few of these weapons, but their ability to wage war with these items is highly suspect. They have a history of failed launch attempts with the Shahab-3 missile. Sucessful tests are usually paired with numerous failures.

Agreed.

Creating a missile and being able to deploy it effectively are two different tasks. A missile sitting in an R & D building has a range of wherever it lands if it rolls off the table.
