Internet Found Guilty of Promoting Terrorism ???

American Chronicle
November 24, 2007

According to HR 1955: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007, the Internet is guilty of promoting terrorism, and is subject to sentencing by Congressional committee.

HR 1955 can be found in its entirety here: www.govtrack.us... While reading this bill, it occurred to me that one of the main thrusts of the bill, as indicated in the following excerpt, is to declare the Internet guilty of promoting terrorism, and to lay the foundation for sentencing. Please pay careful attention to numbers 2 and 3:

SEC. 899B. FINDINGS

The Congress finds the following:

1. The development and implementation of methods and processes that can be utilized to prevent violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence in the United States is critical to combating domestic terrorism.

2. The promotion of violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence exists in the United States and poses a threat to homeland security.

3. The Internet has aided in facilitating violent radicalization, ideologically based violence, and the homegrown terrorism process in the United States by providing access to broad and constant streams of terrorist-related propaganda to United States citizens.

4. While the United States must continue its vigilant efforts to combat international terrorism, it must also strengthen efforts to combat the threat posed by homegrown terrorists based and operating within the United States.

5. Understanding the motivational factors that lead to violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence is a vital step toward eradicating these threats in the United States.

This seems to be another ''1984'' scenario that the NWO wants to take over and control and they are using their new laws to bypass everyones rights and freedoms.

Slowly grinding us down so we can't move or be allowed to think for ourselves. This stinks of a similar situation over 60 years ago in Germany and the famous book burning festival.

If succesful, what will happen to the net?
What will become of the library's and the books they contain?
Will all that be censored too? Could "gone with the wind" become an underground handbook to going to war?

I completely share your concerns and I am surprised more ATS members are not in an up-roar over this. I am also shocked by the stealth nature of this legislation. My comments/analysis of the bill can be read in the last post of the link listed below:

The link to the bill gives me an error.

An invalid bill ID was specified in the URL.

So, here is a link to the overview of the bill, and here is a link to the text of the bill.

After a brief review of the bill, I see nothing in the bill indicating what the website truthnews claims.

It looks like the bill basically calls for a commission to be established to review the situation and report back to them in 18 months. The bill has been approved in the house and passed on to the senate for a vote there. We all know how these commissions go. Lots of talk, making it look like their doing something about it, but in reality, little action.

As a side note, it has been difficult for these types of sites to be shut down under current laws. Individuals have been more successful in getting them shut down by calling the host, ISP, or DNS server administrators and complaining, than the gov has due to current regulations. It appears that is what is being looked at, and why this bill is attempting to set up this commission. Not to sentance the internet.

Thats my understanding anyway.

www.sethf.com...
