I live in chicago and I was just looking at pictures of Downtown Chicago and I came across this strange pic. It sort of looks like an UFO on the right side of the pic. The lens of this camera seems to be pretty dirty but still it looks awkward.

Looks like a sail boat to me.

I don't see anything that makes it appear to be flying or hovering above the water.

That's a view looking ENE from the OD in the Sears Tower. It is a boat that you are refering to.
I'm up in Lake County, OP, so of course I've been up in the Sears Tower and Hancock observation decks a bunch of times. Good view, as I'm sure you already know!

I agree that it is probably some kind of boat out in the water. I am from Highland Park area, and this pic shows one of those typical dreary Chicago days where it is hard to see what is out in the water.
