I appreciate you putting me in check in .01 seconds. My attempt at out-doing the disproportionate proposed penalty was in poor taste. I apologize.
However, I agree with you that she should be set free. I also concur that maybe she should have done a little more homework before going on this mission in the first place.
Seeing that she received only 15 days is terrific in my opinion. My understanding is that the 4-5 days she has already served in captivity will count toward the penalty. I would advise her to take the money and run! (ie serve the sentence and get the hell out of there) 10-15 days is a proverbial slap on the wrist as opposed to 40 lashes. (Those photos made me sick to my stomach, thanks.) I feel she will be able to recover emotionally and physically from this. (I hope)
Love, Peace and Soooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuulllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!

Mate its not that you avoid killing innocents, its the fact that theres too much media around and you dont want the world too see you carpet bombing and dropping clusters on civillians like you did in Veitnam.
And the most funniest thing i find is that these fighters, insurgents or whatever you want to call them are fighting with the little they have against your millitary might. They got their crapy Aks which is about 50 years old and they got thier arab scarfs on with thier crapy old slippers. And they have managed to bring your millitary might to its knees and killed thousands of your soldiers.God sometimes i think if these guys had abit more training and better weapons they would wipe your armies clean.
Always remember its not how strong or how big your army is,its all about how motivated they are to fight for thier cause.Keep that in mind matey.

Don't count on the British government to do anything more than talk about the matter. It has emasculated itself and has neither the courage or fortitude to do anything concrete for this poor British citizen.

You are correct, our British government is spineless, more scared off offending Arab sensibilities and waffling about Islam being a religion of "peace", and trying to force through "hate" laws, than worrying about justice and truth.

If you are going to go to another country, for whatever reason, you have to live by the law of their land. Showing respect towards this religion is manditory. She knew that. She chose not to. For the rules to not be applied to her would have been wrong. They made an excelent and fair compromise.
KHARTOUM, Sudan - Thousands of Sudanese, many armed with clubs and knives, rallied Friday in a central square and demanded the execution of a British teacher convicted of insulting Islam for allowing her students to name a teddy bear "Muhammad."
The protesters streamed out of mosques after Friday sermons, as pickup trucks with loudspeakers blared messages against Gillian Gibbons, the teacher who was sentenced Thursday to 15 days in prison and deportation. She avoided the more serious punishment of 40 lashes.
They massed in central Martyrs Square, outside the presidential palace, where hundreds of riot police were deployed, although they did not try to stop the rally."Shame, shame on the U.K.," protesters chanted.
They called for Gibbons' execution, saying, "No tolerance: Execution," and "Kill her, kill her by firing squad."

These Muslims who are taking to the street in protest are being whipped into a frenzy by their clerics & imams. Google some pics of Sudanese jails/prisons and you will be shocked by the conditions this poor woman will have to endure.
Sudan is a hell hole by anyone's standards.
Other prisoners & guards will consider it their religious duty to torment, ridicule, and physically harm her if they have the opportunity. It don't look good for her. Too bad she is not closely related to someone in Parliment. Things might be different.

generalising isn't a good thing.
All the muslim groups, including Muslim Council of Great Britain, has been VERY supportive and has even joined in to protest for her release. Sadly, the media is always focusing on extremists.
