CARACAS, Venezuela - President Hugo Chavez said Sunday he is putting relations with Colombia "in the freezer" after its president ended the Venezuelan leader's role mediating with leftist rebels in the neighboring country.

I would say this is just Chavez being Chavez, but Venezuela's connections to leftist rebels in Colombia and the fact that both nations are major oil exporters bothers me. It wont take much to push oil past $100 a barrel and news like this is just enough to make investors anxious.

Why do you never see Hollywood elites going to Columbia and hugging the president?where democracy is back on track, cilvil rights are expanding, and drug gangs being put in prison. However in Ven. human rights are peing ignored, gov payed gangs are shooting people in the street, open free speach will get you thrown in prison or worse and Hollywood loves this tyrant! why?

Chavez is an idiot and a hypocrite, he don't spare a second of his life trying to demonize the U.S. for being involved in the affairs of other countries and then he goes try to do the same.

And is not only in this case, he has intervene in other affairs around South America, specially by voicing his support for presidential candidates in elections, making public pledges of economic help if such and such candidates is elected and by giving money to the candidate so he can finance their campaing.
