A good indicator of future US Navy intentions is the pattern of fuel shipments, it appears something is stirring in the Gulf!

US Navy Increases Fuel Shipments!

In addition, most ships have been pulled out of the gulf, I assume 5th fleet is now the only group operating in the gulf. Could be an indication of air strikes are planned for Iran.

There are a number of indicators that something is "brewing" in the Gulf and this story is one of them. I also think it is very unusual that the Navy Site you linked shows so many large US ships underway. I check this site regularly and I have never before seen 8 US carriers listed as underway. Even though only one carrier is listed as in the Gulf, any other carrier that is underway could be there in a week or less.

Another site I like to follow states that the Truman Carrier group left port a few weeks ago with double the usual number of escort ships. It also has a lot of information about other US naval deployments that seem unusual.

www.geocities.com...

My guess would be that things in the Middle East are going to get "hot" in the next 30 to 60 days regardless of what the US does. Everyone in the area seems to be in conflict with someone else in the area.

Here is another link :

Reuters

The U.S. military has stepped up chartering of tankers and requests for extra fuel in the U.S. Central Command area, which includes the Gulf, shipping and oil industry sources say.

A Gulf oil industry source said the charters suggested there would be high naval activity, possibly including a demonstration to Iran that the U.S. Navy will protect the Strait of Hormuz oil shipping route during tensions over Tehran's nuclear programme.

The U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command (MSC) has tendered for four tankers in November to move at least one million barrels of jet and ship fuel between Gulf ports, from Asia to the Gulf and to the Diego Garcia base, tenders seen by Reuters show.

The Navy is currently involved in aiding Bangladesh.

AP

The U.S. Navy made final preparations Saturday for an operation to deliver much-needed food and medical supplies to hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshis stricken by Cyclone Sidr, a U.S. official said.

The USS Kearsarge, carrying about 20 helicopters and relief supplies, was docked off the country's coast as naval officers made arrangements to deliver aid possibly as early as Sunday to remote villages cut off by the storm.

USS Eisenhower is in the Atlantic doing carrier Qual exercises.

USS Abraham Lincoln is back in port. She deploys in early 2008.

USS Nimitz just returned from deployment in Sept, she's not going anywhere for awhile. She WAS involved in Valiant Shield 07 before returning home.

USS Washington recently came out of an 11 month refit, and was doing sea trials. She is replacing the Kitty Hawk in Japan in 2008.

USS Kitty Hawk just wrapped up Annualex 19G with the Japanese, and is home (or on her way there).

USS Harry Truman just deployed to the CENTCOM AO.

USS Ronald Reagan returned to North Island on Oct 31 after refit and sea trials. As of the 16th she was still in port, having just completed a change of command ceremony.

I just read an article related to this today on the Will Thomas Online site....

Naval Officer Says We Are Going To “Hit Iran Bigtime!”

November 1, 2007

I have a friend who is an LSO on a carrier attack group that is planning and staging a strike group deployment into the Gulf of Hormuz. (LSO: Landing Signal Officer- she directs carrier aircraft while landing.)

She told me we are going to attack Iran.

She said that all the Air Operation Planning and Asset Tasking are finished. That means that all the targets have been chosen, prioritized, and tasked to specific aircraft, bases, carriers, missile cruisers and so forth.

I asked her why she is telling me this.

I asked her about the attack, how limited and so forth.

"I don't think it's limited at all. We are shipping in and assigning every damn Tomahawk we have in inventory. I think this is going to be massive and sudden, like thousands of targets. I believe that no American will know when it happens until after it happens. And the consequences…whatever the consequences…they will have to be lived with. I am sure if my father knew I was telling someone in a news organization that we were about to launch a supposedly secret attack that it would be treason. But something inside me tells me to tell it anyway."

"Yes. We're gong to hit Iran, bigtime. Whatever political discussions that are going on is window dressing and perhaps even a red herring. I see what's going on below deck here in the hangars and weapons bays. And I have a sick feeling about how it's all going to turn out." [impeachforpeace.org]

Sorry, but I have a hard time imagining an LSO would know much about what's going on, beyond scuttlebut. Yes, they might see them taking weapons on board, but any ship would be taking on weapons if they were deploying to the AO. They wouldn't be doing target selection and briefings until they were over in the AO, so that word wouldn't get out this far ahead of time.

Yeah... The same BS was posted here:

Almost three months ago... Much hand wringing, but no bomb dropping.

The story is so improbable that I have no kind words for those taken in.

Good catch... if I had only done a search of LSO.... lol

Totally blows that little tidbit of information right out of the park....

Thank you for catching the double post... keep up the good work!

Does that mean that the strike won't happen? How much hand wringing must be done before action? Hand Wringing Cubed = Hit Iran Big Time?

We are facing a national and global economic catastrophy. Commodities will soon be King. The Middle East and Caspian Basin will be the new center of global power. Can our Navy save us from this geopolitical earthquake? Not without said commodities. We'll be selling our military hardware to China and India at this rate. But not before we lash out one last time.

I've heard the crap about how our military secures our economy/status blah, blah, blah.... Fact is, only the rich have elaborate security. Poor people worry about food, shelter, etc. We prostituted ourselves to Private Banks (Federal Reserve) along time ago. Our pimps call the shots now and maybe they'd just as soon see us go away, too many freedoms and all.

Sorry 'bout the Rant, but I see too many things coming together here to be mere coincidence. We dare not underestimate the conspiracy behind what is happening.

I don't suppose anyone here looked into Japan taking its tanker assets out of the Gulf as the reason for the US to increase the number of tanking assets there?

I am glad someone else posted about that idiot LSO before I did. Where do you people dig this stuff up?

I've always been of the opinion that Israel will make the first move, of course it will just happen to be when the US is there to jump in and lend a hand - in reality Israel and US forces will be together all the way from the get go. But history would say Israel made the first strike.

My tuppence.

China just banned and then reversed their decision for the USS Kitty Hawk port in Hong Kong. I wonder if Beijing was sending a message that they knew what the plans where and then decided to put a monkey wrench in the works.

Kitty Hawk was never heading for the Gulf. She recently came out of a refit and was doing work ups and participating in exercises. She doesn't deploy as far as the Gulf very often because she's conventionally powered and due for retirement in 2008.

I'm in sales and get a lot of military customers. I heard again from another one that we are planning to hit Iran. I am surprised how loose lipped these GIs are but maybe the U.S. is really not trying to hide the fact that we are going to use military action against Iran. This particular GI was in intelligence and claimed to also be working with the CIA in the Middle East and he said an attack with Iran is coming, this info came to me last Saturday; it’s probably the third GI I heard something like this from in the last couple of months. Iran is pretty weak on a military level, I would be more scared to see how China and Russia act to a military strike on Iran because that’s where they both get much of there oil and they have a lot of other interests there. I don’t think we will invade Iran, just strategic air strikes.

Believe me when you are dropping $30-$40K on a luxury automobile you’re not the average GI, and it’s my fault for using the word GI. I should say Special Forces, Captains, and Gunnery Sergeants. People sometimes get very lax when they buy a fancy new car, it’s almost like being high or drunk, it makes them really happy and people will sometimes open up. I work near Ft. Lewis and we deal with dozens of military a month, Army, Navy, Air Force, and while most don’t say much some say a lot. Ft. Lewis is one of the largest military bases in the country. We get a lot of customers fresh from the Middle East. Many are happy to be back and they have some money in there pockets so a good amount buy themselves new cars, especially the ones with military housing.

Zaphod58 -

Thank you for the additional information on the US Carrier locations. I try to follow various reports on militray activities to get an idea of what may happen in the near future. It appears to me that US actions in the Middle East appear to be building up or preparing for some kind of action.

What are your thoughts on this?

I disagree. I have positive locations on 11 Strike Groups, as of early this month up until today and there isn't enough carrier airpower near the Gulf. Enterprise wrapped up ops in the AO, which currently leaves Truman in the area, until another group arrives. There is NO WAY they would launch an attack with just one CSG in the area. They would want a minimum of three to support operations.

USS Stennis just entered her 6 month DPIA in September, and USS Carl Vinson is in her planned 18 month refit/refueling.
