Hi Gwhint, and thanks for the information! You have given me a few more bits to look into which im looking forward to. I checked the updated on their website (www.discoveryofatlantis.com...) and it seems that one of the large walls they found near Cyprus was not manmade but they do consider that the "anomaly" would have been utilised by man att he time of the structure being above the surface of the sea (less work for them). They also mentioned about the techniques being used in order to conduct their search and that although they are using state of the art technology it is still very limited as to what it can do. More so the sonar being used and that they have to use a narrow beam of acoustic sound in order to penetrate the mud and silt which of course narrows their field of vision. I think it is important to not that we know more about the surface of the Moon and Mars than of our own sea and ocean floors.

So anyone that disbelieve in ancient cities lost to the seas should take that into consideration. it is unfortunate but not the end of the world as persistence will get us where we want to be. I do know for certain that underwater structures have been found across the world which would have only been above the surface before the end of the last ice age. I am still waiting for a response from both David Flynn and Jim the pastor but as soon as I hear anything I will let you all know. I have a feeling that this is all going to be extremely fruitful for those interested in this thread =]

There is a line from the Oliver Stone movie JFK that goes something like:

I read the entire thread, every post and it was very interesting. However, I found the math to be the least convincing aspect of it. Now I'm not even close to any kind of math genius, in fact I'm quite terrible at it. Yet I have read a lot of theories like this where people take numbers deemed to have significance and then add, subtract, multiply, or divide them and then point to the outcome as if it were a smoking gun proving whatever theory they are presenting. I guess I just don't see it. There are too many leaps of logic that are unexplained by the original author of the material.

Also, while I believe the bible probably contains some nuggets of truth & historical fact, I think using it to try to prove a theory is misguided. Putting aside all the difficulties of using a young religion like Christianity to bolster a theory: the bible itself has been translated from ancient, dead languages like sumerian and aramaic into modern spoken ones many, many times. It's reasonable to assume quite a bit was lost in the translations, and some biblical scholars are quite dismissive of the King James version.

I'm not sure skyscrapers are exactly a hallmark of an advanced and intelligent civilization. Perhaps just a symbol of an arrogant and wasteful one.

Also, for some reason the way you say they should have just left us a DVD to me is a tad ethno-centric. Like when my grandfather gets all irritated with people trying to communicate with him in a foreign language and asks, "Why can't they just speak English?"

Now all those thoughts aside I do think there is a lot of interesting theories on 2012 etc, and I'm not flat-out discounting this one. I'm saying I just can't reconcile the math, the jesus, and the latitude/longitude.

There are those who say there is a significant parallel in the north as well. Knight & Lomas are very adamant about it. 52nd I think? I could be wrong but it's the one that passes near Stonehenge, and I believe all the major Canadian cities are lined up near it.

Ive heard about changes in our solar system, planets atmospheres changing plus changes with the sun itself (among other things). My bookmarks are all over the place and cant find the site i read that in but i will keep searching and will report back.
I done a search on the net and came across something called the Orion Prophecy

I have looked into this for the past 2 yrs and it's gonna happen. It's good to find someone who's looked into it also. I think the government know about it and they are trying there best to play it down but I knew about this a few yrs back just wasn't sure. Another thing to look into is underground cave systems.

I remember reading about the changes occurring within our solar system in an online article called "Your DNA is Changing, Part 1" on www.divinecosmos.com Very interesting read about how our DNA will react to the ongoing changes taking place on Earth as well as the entire Solar System. It all sounds like some sort of natural process. Perhaps what all the buzz about 2012 is about?

I've read everything in this thread, finding it fairly interesting despite the fact that this sort of numerology can be culled from just about any event you can think of if you try hard enough (no offense). As someone also interested in the occult, I've checked out several claims like this and have been able to figure out "significant numbers" in just about anything. I do admit this one is pretty interesting, though.

However, my question is in regard to this statement:

Analysis of the American seal shows a number of occult and Masonic symbols in particular, the so-called American eagle. The American eagle upon the Great Seal is but a conventionalised phoenix.

Is there a source for this claim?

Here is my take:
The aim of this post is rigorously analyze the article "An Occult Translation of the Roswell Event" by David Flynn. (www.ahrimangate.com...) I believe this to be an article with merit which nevertheless makes some claims which require more rigour. In particular, now that 2012 is almost upon us, I have been obssessed with ANY lack of rigour in any articles that have anything to do with 2012, and the reason is simple. The outlook of anyone in the coming months towards issues like his/her career is highly dependent on his/her belief in the likelihood that anything significant of a metaphysical nature will happen on 2012. Thus I have decided to devote a considerable amount of time to analyzing all claims related to this event. It is a fact that my 2 greatest academic interests like in religion and mathematics. Here is my take on the article (I will only analyze the numerological aspects):

To sum up, when all other distractions are removed from the article, what we essentially have is a set of numbers and alot of equations showing relationships between these numbers. The real key to understanding the article is to discern WHICH of the relationships are independent and which can be derived from something else.

The crucial numbers which appear in the article are:
33, 33.33 (occult numbers)
2012 (for obvious reasons)
33.28 (claimed latitude of Roswell crash)
104.56 (claimed longtitude of Roswell crash)
PI
888 (Isopsephy of the name of Jesus in Greek)
1776 (The year of America's founding in our calendar)
RATIONAL multiples (with SMALL denominator) of 360 x 60 x 6 x 12
a number close to 365, the number of days in a non-leap year
I also appreciate that it is fair to place all numbers differing from each other by multiplication by powers of 10 in the same equivalence class - thus it is ok to move decimal points back and forth, this is because I will grant some kind of non-randomnesses in the fact that humans have 10 fingers and 10 toes.

Now, I will go through the equations and tell you which I buy and which I don't buy.

First, the article says "The number 6,480 is exactly 1/4th of the total 25,920 years it takes earth to complete one circuit through the signs of the zodiac. 6,480 years is unique because it marks the duration between a series of global cataclysms left in earth's historic and geologic record. At Roswell, 19.47 appears in relationship between 21,600, 6,480 and 33.33
When the earth's circumference, 21,600 is divided by 33.33 the number 6,480 appears in a variation:
21,600 / 33.33 = 648.06480648064..."

My response: I don't buy that this is too significant. First of all, there is no significance to the 648 repeating in 648.06480648...
This is because the only reason this happens is because 21600 is divided by 33.33 instead of 33.333333333333....
If it were divided by the latter number, all we would get is 648.
But there is still more to consider. Suppose we divided 21600 by 33.33333....instead. This is just multiplying by 3 and dividing by 100. We agreed that we are allowed to move decimal points around, so ESSENTIALLY this is just multiplying by 3. Now 21600 (nautical miles in earth's circumference) happens to be 360x60, while 25920 (precession) is just 360 x 72. Thus it is not at ALL surprising that one can go from one to the other by multiplying by rational number with small denominator. Both these numbers are multiples of 360 due to more archaic reasons. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the real number of years for precession is not even strictly 360 x 72. It is basically set at 360x72 by many because it is close to that figure and I wouldn't be surprised if the 360 there is coming from the idea of a circle and the 72 there is coming from being a multiple of 12, the number of zodiac signs.
