question about the first gulf war

If the iraqi tanks in the first gulf war have been manned by a crew that was equal to the russian tank crew in terms of training would the tank battles outcome favor more to the iraqi side?

And how well-trained were the russian tank crews during the time of the first gulf war?

Yeah the Iraqis had T-80s but they can't stand up to a M1. How many people are in the crew really doesn't make a difference. We were better trained, had better gear and were in general justa better army. Just the way it was.

it looked like they had alot of tanks though. but i guess its quility over quantity(sp?)

im gonna pull an intelgurl here, well, in the gulf war, the iraqi tanks had visual scopes, and the americans had thermal sights, our tanks were knocking them out at 3-4 miles while the iraqis were onl able to engage them when they could see them, this was evident durring the battle of madina ridge where like 9 abrams tanks took on many more entrenched t-72s and 80s

a few deciding factors - NIGHTVISION. At night, they couldn't really fight back - they were blind compared to the US.

Another thing - DU armor. There shells just weren't that effective against our super dense materials.

The fact that their tactics had them dug in made them sitting ducks as well.

Assuming we had the exact same troops, US still wins because of better tanks.

WTF? The iraqies NEVER had ANY T-80s of ANY KIND!
Their best tanks where the downgraded export version T-72. Crap. No FLIR, thin armor and weak cannon.

If they would have had T-80s there would be a lot of american tanks burning in the iraqi desert!

yes but this is about iraqi tanks vs american tanks, the majority of forces on the ground were american.
