Dec. 9 ó With some 60,000 U.S. troops now within striking distance of Iraq, the U.S. military started training exercises Monday to test preparedness
for an invasion ó and to underline the seriousness of the U.S. threat to Baghdad if it doesnít disarm. The number of troops in position is set to
quadruple by early 2003. And, in addition to the heavy weaponry moving into the region for a possible conflict, NBC has learned that the U.S. military
has pre-positioned munitions and equipment at three secret locations in Israel.
