Good find - I hadn't seen this before. Enjoyed reading it. It's not often people are so bold when it comes to Area51!

That is one of my favorite Area 51 stories. Thanks for reminding me - always a good read.
If you navigate back to the homepage of that site there is a link to my favorite aircraft saga, "The Hunt for 928." It's the author's nearly obsessive search for a A-12 Blackbird that crashed in 1967 as it was returning to Groom Lake. I'm jealous of someone with his determination, resources, abd free-time.

Spectre, that A-12 story is an outstanding read. I recall reading it back in 1997 or 1998 and was enthralled at the story, the history and determination to find it.

As for skirting the borders of 'Area 51' completely legal, I had read that story as well, and wanted to take that trip, as a licensed commercial pilot. But I think some of the 'unknown' of this area has worn off, since the late 80s, early 90s. Sure people are still interested in this area and continue to speculate. I will still keep an eye open in hopes of seeing new information or stories surface.

Who knows, maybe one day I will be able to take a flight of my own, with similar (or different) results. Nonetheless, still enjoyable to read stories like these.

I wonder how long it would take to be the restricted air space for the f-16 to come out & escort them out?

Tetra, I would start here, UFOMind.com and see if it turns up any other stories. I do recall reading a few people, with varying degrees of detail of their flight.

As for being intercepted and escorted. I am sure if you penetrated restricted airspace, the controlling ATC facility would immediately inform you. As for interception, I would guess a few minutes. Then again, if that were the case with 9/11...but that's another topic.
