L.A. PD Plan to "Map Muslim Population" withdrawn

www.csmonitor.com

Los Angeles - A high-profile police plan to map Los Angeles's Muslim population to pinpoint possible terror risks – a plan abruptly withdrawn last week – is an object lesson for US law enforcement in the era after 9/11, say policing experts.

Los Angeles, a bastion of ethnic diversity, has been a pioneer in community policing. And even though the plan to map Muslim areas is viewed as a public relations blunder, the swift response to scrap it is evidence that American police tactics are changing for the better, if only slowly, analysts say.

In some ways you have to say 'all right" and Im glad they did it. However, the fact that this plan was even proposed and was going foreward is appaling to me. Have we forgotton the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII? Even the most hardened neocon would be out of his mind to think it simply would stop there. Why not gather the data on homosexuals, people with AIDS, those with disabilities, Heck and non christians. Its such a slippery slope we are seemingly marching down without a care. While I applaud the decision to drop this plan, its appaling it was even ever put forth

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out -
because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out -
because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out -
because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me.

Everyday that passes I ask myself how much more.. I ask why can't everyone else see what I see, Some may think my beliefs are crazy others may say they are real, I say they are both, I think we all know whats coming, events continue to transpire, leaks continue to come out, the info and mountains of proof of what they have planned is a giant puzzle that is all there just not completed..
We continue to allow things such as this just slide right on by, this should have NEVER even been considered in this Republic, is goes against everything America is supposed to stand for...

All men are created Equal...
Life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness...
Have we forgotten?

We deserve everything we got coming, our silence is our consent.

This was the second shocking proposal which was pulled due to the public reaction, I include the NY illegal immigrant license deal with this.

It makes me wonder if these were deliberately put out to see reaction and gauge the conscious of the people.

Like an experiment of sorts to gather data to better formulate a plan later down the road.

A litmus test to see how far the conditioning has gotten.

I don't know, it just seems so ludicrous to even put forward these types of measures and not expect a strong resistance to them. Like they did it on purpose.

My tinhat is on so this is coming from a speculative angle, so I just toss this out for everyone to ponder, while these two ideas have been placed on hold for reevalution, how many ideas have already been implemented where the public outcry was not strong enough to get a retraction?

These two changes of heart
give me hope that eyes are opening and people are willing to say NO in a big enough way to stop some of this madness.
