The new radar, the third of its kind in northern Norway, is built on the mountain Njunis and can be lowered into the mountain.
There is hardly any doubt that the increased Russian military activities in the High North inevitably will be studies closely by the radars.

This new radar is the latest additon to NATO's frontline stretching from Turkey all the way up to the cold north. The radar is considered to be one of the most advanced of its kind. Given range is 450km...

The radar can be lowered into the huge facility inside the 1721m high mountain. Access to the facility itself can only be obtained through a train ride deep into the mountain.
The official range of the radar itself is 450km, but its plausible to think that in reality these figures are higher.
