Ok, let's review...

4 objects flying in formation, possibly square shaped, radiating an amber light and travelling "twice as fast as a rocket".

These objects were sighted by both civilian and military personnel at White Sands Proving Grounds, New Mexico.

The night skies were clear and none of the witnesses wore glasses...

And yet the DOD called this sighting a METEOR!?

I've never seen four meteors flying in formation,

I've never heard of "square" meteors either.

If the people who came to this conclusion were in the medical profession they would be sued for malpractice.
Incredible.

I am unsure if the witnesses thought the lights were themselves square or that the "formation" was a square. I lean towards the latter.

Either would be seriously questionable for a regular "fireball".
