Well, it's kind of an active process. You have to manage your thoughts first. Learn to quell them as they pop in. I'd say if you have trouble with
thinking too much, go slowly at first. Let's say you have like 10 thoughts every 20 seconds..... try reducing the number of thoughts slowly but
gradually, until you can just completely let go of all thought process. Also, focusing on the back of your head or the space between your eyebrows
helps. That's been discussed before, I think.
I've accomplished the ability to stop my thought process... but it's still difficult sometimes, because I've always got songs playing in my head.
That's the only problem with being a musician, is you just cant get music out of your head almost ever... but when I get serious and deep into
meditation, I can control it.
