If there were no soldiers or if people refused to take up arms, then there would be a greater chance of there being no wars.
I have no respect for killers, no matter how 'righteous' their mission is.

And I'm losing sleep over this.

I suppose you think it's great that we've got to where we are because of people murdering others?
Yeah, I'll deal with it, I'll say that soldiers suck and more (not on here as there is a language filter) and yeah, it may be naive, but I'd rather be naive and hopeful than support murderers or whatever you would prefer to call them.

What's wrong with hoping for no more wars anyway? Oh, so it's idealistic? It's unrealistic? Well, I suppose it's unrealistic as long as we have people who want it to continue...Don't lose sleep though...wtf? Whatever.

Hello, The solder should be treated with dignity, honor and respect. I am so proud of them for everything they have done... Now it is time to bring them home. I can only hope we can come to a peaceful solution. I have faith that our current administration, and future administration and agree that our foreign policy needs to be less intrusive. Perhaps Iraq and Iran can work together to preserve their own heritage. Democracy would be a good thing for the middle east, but these countries need to come to a good peaceful solution.

War is not the solution, It's a no brainer, wouldn't you agree?

And what's your point with your original post? "Soldiers suck". Yep, whatever. Why don't you trot down to the local military base and make sure that the troops there know your enlightened opinion of them and their friends. Let me know how that works out for you. (Here's a tip; tell them you want your teeth in your hand, not your pocket.)

Hey, nothing wrong with hoping that there are no more wars. 99% of the guys in uniform agree with you.

And you don't murder people in wartime. You kill them. There is a difference.

The problem with your philosophy is that dictators won't pay attention to your "suggestion". If we had no "soldiers" in the 1940's, those of us that hadn't been exterminated, would be in concentration camps, and being guarded by German SOLDERS.

Soldiers are valiant men and women, who have defended their countries, and allowed pathetic clowns like you to say what they want, regardless of how ignorant you are.

If there were no "bad"people in the world, there would be no need for soldiers. However, there are, and so soldiers are necessary.

Ben Stein is right. Ben is a true patriot.

I still stand by my comment that they are murderers by any other name...calling them soldiers just obfuscates that, but then we know the military is into obfuscation to keep it's purpose.

However, I suspect it is because of 'clowns' like you that there are still wars fought.

Thanks, but he's really not getting to me. I'm actually enjoying reading his ill-advised, infantile posts. I'm willing to bet he's probably 18 years old, lives at home and wears his sisters jeans (and thinks he looks hot in them, too!)

Im not here to argue and I respect your opinion however soldiers are stars because they "VOLUNTEERED" to serve their country and to die for what they believe in, especially with the way the world is now, Nobody is forced to join the military here in our country. You are way off your mark with that statement. If you have an issue with our country being at war then thats fine, Im sure many have the same issue but support your ALL VOLUNTEER MILITARY....
P.S PAT TILLMAN GAVE UP 4 MILLION DOLLARS TO SERVE HIS COUNTRY BECAUSE HE WAS COMPELLED TO DO SO. HE PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE....HE IS A STAR AS ARE ALL OUR OUR MILITARY.
