The US Government to announce alien contact?

Topic started on 11-11-2007 @ 05:31 PM by nomadrush

Has anyone heard this rumour that seems to have started via The Larry King Show, that the US Government are to make an announcement tomorrow (12th) confirming the existence of UFO's and alien contact?

Its probably another hoax - but it seems to have come to me from a usually reliable source on this occasion.

Thanks filthy - although if you'd have done your homework, you might have seen that this is my radio show forum where we discuss such matter separately from the rest of the forum threads!

Here is the full press release on the matter put out yesterday:

NEWS ADVISORY
For immediate release:
International UFO press conference 11/12/07, National Press Club
The Reality as Seen by Former High Level Government and Military Officials

Pilots to Tell Their UFO Stories for the First Time

Irrefutable evidence being presented

Group to call on US Government to Re-Open its Investigation

WHEN: Monday, November 12, 2007, 11:00 AM

WHERE: National Press Club, Ballroom

529 14th Street NW
Washington, DC 20045
(Event open to credentialed media and Congressional staff only)

WHAT: Former Arizona Governor Fife Symington will moderate a distinguished panel of former high-ranking government, aviation, and military officials from seven countries to discuss close encounters with what the US Air Force describes as Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). Representatives from France, England, Belgium, Chile, Peru, Iran and the US
will call for the US Government to join in an international dialogue and re-open its investigation - which the Air Force shut down over 30 years ago - in cooperation with other governments currently dealing with this unusual and controversial phenomenon.

While on active duty, the panelists have either witnessed a UFO incident or have conducted an official investigation into UFO cases relevant to aviation safety and national security.

WHO: Fife Symington, Former Arizona Governor, Moderator Ray Bowyer, Captain, Aurigny Air Services, Channel Islands Rodrigo Bravo, Captain and Pilot for the Aviation Army of Chile General Wilfried De Brouwer, former Deputy Chief of Staff, Belgian Air Force (Ret.) John Callahan, Chief of Accidents and Investigations for the FAA, 1980's (Ret.) Dr. Anthony Choy, founder, 2001, OIFAA, Peruvian Air Force Jean-Claude Duboc, Captain, Air France (Ret.) Charles I. Halt, Col. USAF (Ret.), Former Director, Inspections Directorate, DOD I.G. General Parviz Jafari, Iranian Air Force (Ret.)
Jim Penniston, TSgt USAF (Ret.) Dr. Claude Poher, Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales, founder, French GEPAN Nick Pope, Ministry of Defence, UK, 1985-2006 Dr. Jean-Claude Ribes, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France, 1963-98 Comandante Oscar Santa Maria, Peruvian Air Force (Ret.)

The American public is not alone when it comes to sighting what the US Air Force has labeled Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). So too have former presidents, former governors, high level military and government officials, highly trained airplane pilots and aviation experts. The phenomenon is real.
It happens worldwide. No one is sure about its nature. Experts from seven countries will divulge what they have discovered about UFOs at a November 12 panel discussion moderated by former Arizona Governor Fife Symington (R) at the National Press Club.

Just one year ago, pilots, mechanics and managers from United Airlines witnessed a metallic disc- shaped object hovering over the United Airlines Terminal at Chicago's O'Hare Airport. The clearly observed object shot straight up leaving a hole through the clouds. Despite the clear aviation safety issues involved, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) never investigated the incident and dismissed it as weather. This head-in-the-clouds refusal to investigate stands in sharp contrast to efforts by governments of other countries to understand these incidents.

"I believe that our government should take an active role in investigating this very real phenomenon," said Symington, who was a witness to the famed 'Phoenix Lights" incident seen by hundreds in Arizona while he was governor. "This panel consists of some of the most qualified people in the world with
direct experience in dealing with this issue, and they will bring incredible, irrefutable evidence, some never presented before, that we simply cannot dismiss or ignore," he said.

The group, using previously classified documents, will discuss many well-documented cases, including two investigated by the US government. The first involves a Peruvian Air Force pilot who fired many rounds at a UFO which was not affected. The second was an Iranian Air Force pilot's attempt to fire at a UFO, but whose control panel became inoperable. "This case is a classic that meets all the necessary conditions for a legitimate study of the UFO phenomenon," stated the US Defense Intelligence Agency document on the Tehran incident. Both pilots will come forward to speak about these events publicly for the first time.

Why do you want to discuss this matter separate from the other forum threads? Wouldnt it be just a big repeat of what has already been discussed?

Like i said in my previous posting - this is my radio show thread and therefore we often discuss things in here that are also being discussed elsewhere on the forum, as I do not have the time to go scouting across thousands of other forum threads!

I don't know how many times you have said before that this is the forum for the radio show "Now Thats Weird".

You would think that people, who can direct people into doing a forum search would know how to read your threads

I get peeved that on ocassion topics here are hijacked over to other forums. I am not interested in the other forums. I look at and post in some others but to be honest I think that the "old school" have far too much dominance..with the "This is our forum" complex and not wish to face challenges to their safe forum world.

I do not want to spend time and effort looking at all the weird areas of ATS. I came to ATS because I like "Now Thats Weird" and on the show Nomad suggested ATS is a place for those with a mind for views and topics that are not accepted in the "real" world.

Members do start topics here that are of no relevance to the show. I see this forum as a separate entity from ATS. ATS is merely a hosting platform for the official radio show forum.

If people can't grasp the fact that this is the official, sponsored "Now Thats Weird" forum and not just another "loony thread", then I wouldn't value their opinion too much.

Keep up the good work Nomad. Your show is doing more for the cause than any of the forums here

Thank you for the kind words - very much appreciated.

Now THAT'S Weird is pleased to be associated with ATS as it's a great place to have our official forum, but you are right in saying that we often discuss things in this forum that may appear elsewhere on the site, and twice in recent months, moderators have moved a discussion from my forum because it is already being discussed elsewhere and that is very annoying.

As you rightly say, this is the forum for things discussed on the show and we often discuss things that are also be talked about elsewhere on the ATS forums, so on occasions it will duplicate a thread and moderators - if you are reading this - please take note!

Now THAT'S Weird is one of the fastest growing paranormal talk shows in the world with now over 600,000 listeners and one day we will probably do the show from an FM station in the USA rather than from Glastonbury, but for now we love it just the way it is!

I am glad to read your words Nomad, I thought it was just me!!

I had noticed that some threads have been affected because they are similar to threads elsewhere. I do wonder if some mods are overzealous and / or ignorant of the role of this forum!!

Sitting here typing this I have realised something. I think that given the nature of the show and the "weird" topics discussed that there is a probability / possibility that most of your subject area is covered somewhere in the ATS forums? Does that mean that threads in the "Now That's Weird" forum should be locked... and NTW just used as a thread traffic management system?

I think it unfair. You and your team actually do all the work of getting guests on the show..but post about it in the forum and some mod moves it!!!! It makes me wonder why bother with a forum here.

I wonder if things have ever been reciprocated, with people being redirected here? I am not aware of it!

Still as I have said. This is my place of haunting...I do not want to go to other areas of ATS...where senior posters are treated preferentially and arguments, opinions and subjects are entrenched.

Most times, I listen to the show then come here to see what is discussed. I do not want to search other areas of ATS.

What I like about "NTW" is the fact that simulataneously the world can listen to the show and comment here at the same time.

It's not like other bits of ATS, where a geographically isolated portion of the world gets to comment on subjects...and the rest of us are left to speculate on some dodgy video/picture/text of dubious voracity and context.

I get a feeling of community when listening to the show. I can feel the guffaws of increduality as the Prophet Yahwee made his statements and the worldwide feeling of WTF! as the show discusses.....well just about anything!!

I feel that NTW touches a unique place globally, especially given the medium it transmits in and the subject matter.

Keep it coming Nomad

But there are some of us that cannot listen to this weirdness, and must rely on the written word. Please don't feel like step-children here on ATS. You're part of the family. (We don't let you out of the basement for your own good. )

And there is nothing here any stranger than the everyday threads of ATS.

Is this REAL Disclosure though?

I'd be really pleased if they're finally bowing to pressure and telling the TRUTH about aliens. On the other hand they may just be using this as another fearmongering ploy.
