Has anyone here read Timeline by Micheal Crichton? I just finished it, I must admit that I am surprised and disappoitned.

I am surprised that the writing style is better than Congo and is one of the best I have ever read, but the storyline is not that great. Personally I was expecting something better than Congo and after reading the book, I believe that Crichton could have done much better with story.

Any other reccommends or comments?

In that case, I will watch it.

I haven't seen it, but heard it was really bad. But, trust me the good is one of Crichton's best.

Love all books by Crichton and Timeline especially. Although the movie version of Timeline was incorrect.
Gomez was supposed to be female, They screwed up the charecters, beggining was supposed to have a married couple driving in their Mercedes-Benz looking for rugs of Indian origin. They stopped the car at sight of an old man not a young one. I.e. some GREAT/FANTASTIC books are not supposed to be made into movies. P.S. I know "based on" refers to not exactly true, but a movie writer should get the movie to be as great as the book.

The book 'Timeline' was excellent, but I'm somewhat of a mediaeval era buff anyway. His research is superb. I haven't seen the film yet.

Eaters of the dead is a rewrite of 'Beowulf' - but still a pretty good book. The film was changed somewhat but was still enjoyable.

Pisky, don't watch the movie.
I LOVED the book, but the movie is very mediocre, things are missing, people are changed, not worth watching.

Rising Sun by Crichton kicks ass, briliant book. He really does his research before writing a book.
