Harper announces review of allegations against Mulroney

Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today he will establish an independent review of allegations against former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and his dealings with German businessman Karlheinz Schreiber.

"Some of these new allegations touch on the former prime minister's time in office," Mr. Harper said.

This is big news in Canada. I know this isn't going to garner much attention from the membership here but this is an investigation into a former Prime Minister taking cash ffrom a German businessman/arms dealer. He denied ever having met Mr. Schreiber and denied taking money from him. After trying to pressure Mr. Schreiber into signing a document stating he didn't give the money to our ex-PM and failing, Mr. Mulroney finally declared the money on his taxes. He also recieved a 2.1 million dollar libel settlement against the Canadian government for this affair.
