[ The original intent of the board with screws in it, was to act as a" bear deterent" at the time it was placed out side the window, the owner had thought perhaps a bear was causing all the distruction to the cabin. It was not until they looked at the pattern of the blood and tissue left on the board that was relized the actual size of the print.

Those traps are also illegal in the entire country of Canada, and were illegal at the time of this incident. I'm sure someone at the very least paid a hefty fine for that.

If i remember correctly, the board of screws were set up with the idea that it was in fact a bear. what they found was totally unexpected. More research and study are needed to determine what is really going on up there.

You have some of your facts wrong, but you've got the story down.

The scientists didn't leave the screw-board they came a number of years after this thing had been stepped. That was the primary reason recovering DNA was so hard that one forensics lab deemed it to be a non-organic sample.

Second the deviation in the DNA is MUCH smaller than a chromosome. The difference come in one nucleotide base pair.

Humans share all but 35 base pairs with other great apes such as Bonobos and Chimps. The fact that there is only one base pair difference could mean that this is the "most human" primate ever found.

The fallow-up research has not come out in the time since the investigation.

Let me shed a bit of light on what constitutes a 'leading sasquatch expert". Dr. Jeff Meldrum is a current professor at Idaho State University, the school I am now attending. For the record I haven't met the man, but I did read his book.

Once upon a time, a non-bigfoot believein' biology professor who specializes in Primate skeletal anatomy and locomotion was on a field trip in WA. His group came upon some tracks that were obviously from a bigfoot. This professor (who didn't believe in sasquatch) was puzzled, because in his expert opinion they were created by a very large, very heavy primate. The indentations and roll of the foot were authentic, not some stamp smacked into the ground. That was the start of his journey down the rabbithole of Sasquatch reasearch.

Dr. Meldrum has collected hundreds of casts of footprints, some fake, most not. He has identified individual animals due to clubfeet, scars and other unique anomalies. He worked with Jimmy Chilcutt to identify and validate the dermal ridge theory on sasquatch footprints as well. The Skookum Cast makes sense because of his understanding of primate anatomy. Meldrum's scientific opinion on sasquatch footage is as good as it gets ~ He's a primate locomotion specialist!

Here's what a leading sasquatch research might write about his findings:

Here's a brief story about the work on Dermal Ridges:

So no, he hasn't dissected one yet, but a geologist doesn't need to touch lava to study a volcano either!

They got hair, tissue, blood and dna. Ship it off to the lab and get it cloned! Test tube sasquatch.

I saw that show....but fell asleep at the end. Glad to hear about the results of the testing. Very interesting to say the least.

Most Monsterquest episodes leave me with the "crazy explorer" looking but not finding "the Creature" feeling. They are sort of like the ghost hunter shows to me. Glad to see this one had to pretty hard looking evidence to back it up.

I believe that there is too much money in these shows not finding real proof. They sort of kill the income if the creatures they are seeking are found. Years later and still no definitive proof and they never will.

I don't think there is some large undiscovered primate living in the wilderness. Something that large would leave behind large signs of it's existence. With as many campers, hikers, logger, hunters, etc. that are out there with their newfangled digital cameras and the only decent film being from 1967... something just doesn't add up. I've stumbled upon dozens of trailcams and I don't even live in the forest.

That being said, if I ever came upon a sasquatch, I wouldn't shoot him but I think I'm a minority. There are so many yahoo hunters out there that shoot anything that moves. Unless the corpse turns to ash instantly, we would have evidence by now.

I'm not afraid of anything in the forest. I've seen bears and cougars and I had no fear of them but the idea of coming upon bigfoot gives me the hebejebees. Makes me wonder if it's just fear of the unknown or if there is an instinctual reason.
