The okapi. They are related to the giraffe.
I have seen these guys before, but really looked at it the other night. I think I want to be one next Halloween.

great thread loved the stuff on that vampire squid and the praying mantis is always badass.

the Mantis Shrimp... seems almost as fast as the praying mantis although they aren't actually related.

Mantis shrimp appear to be highly intelligent, are long-lived and exhibit complex behaviour, such as ritualised fighting. Scientists have discovered that some species use fluorescent patterns on their bodies for signaling with their own and maybe even other species, expanding their range of behavioural signals. They can learn and remember well, and are able to recognise individual neighbours with whom they frequently interact. They can recognise them by visual signs and even by individual smell. Many have developed a complex social behaviour to defend their space from rivals.

I LOVE OKAPIS!!!

They're so so so pretty and for the longest time no one thought they were real.
Amazing animals.

I like the Egyptian Vulture. He is very smart to use this rock to open an egg:



When full grown they have a very nice black and white pattern of their wings:

Their not the biggest or baddest or anything but squirrels are pretty darn cool especially when they can do this


But seriously they are fun to just watch run around. I had a couple of them for pets through the years.

Agreed but that is what makes them so cool. Just about anything you do to stop them they will work their way around it to still get the food. If you make squirrel feeders they it helps a little.
