The UK's involvement in NASA and ESA programmes has, to the best of my knowledge, been minimal. It's interesting that someone in such a high position should be so openly scathing about a lack of ambition in Space.

Most people in this country (UK) know little of the UK's contribution to space exploration beyond the much ridiculed Beagle 2 Mars rover disaster. There are those on these boards that think it was no accident that prevented said craft beaming back its info.

To what extent is the UK "in on the deal" with the US and European space agencies behind the scenes, though?
