Following the resignation of Gavin Davies as Chairman of the BBC the Government have appointed Lord Ryder as acting chairman. His first action was to
issue a grovelling apology to the Government.
Soon after Greg Dyke resigned as Director General of the BBC.
BBC employees have started to walk out across the country in protest and sympathy.Whether this is only for this afternoon or an action that could
presage further action is yet to be seen.
There is a growing fear in the UK media today that Press freedoms could be adversly effected by the Hutton Report.
Michael Portillo has said that the report couldn't have been better if Alastair Campbell had written it himself.
That the Hutton Report was leaked first to The Sun owned by Rupert Murdoch who has a vested interest in the downfall on Channels such as BBC News 24
and that Labour MP's are now questioning whether the BBC should be in competition with SKY,also owned by Murdoch raises very serious concerns.
