That doesnt explain anything in my opinion. Of course the money isnt available, because nobody can prove him wrong. And he actually does, in some cases, what the person claiming to have the abilities does but using science and trickery (he is a magician after all). So he's just showing how it is possible for people to be fooled into believing some phenomena

So how do you explain his subjective and unscientific standards of proof? How do you explain that he doesn't permit independent verification of his so-called debunkings?

"But it also means that there will be no objective, independent judging or adjudication, by scientific criteria, carried out by qualified professional scientists. Randi alone will say whether the terms of the challenge have been met -- whether the metal was bent psychically, or the electronic instrument deflected by mental power, or the remote image was correctly reproduced. In the event that the claimant insists the written terms have been met, but Randi disagrees, then it will be Randi's decision that prevails."

That sounds all good and well until you consider the term "paranormal" is unscientific and subjective in and of itself.

Did you actually read what I wrote. The topic was not debating the credibility of Randi, its whether or not people on here would be up to his challenges. You are entitled to your opinion and have made your point. Enough of this

James Randii is nothing but a fraud that doesn't have the money that he states that he has, and everybody knows that, if they ever checked into it.

He will buy worthless junk bonds that aren't worth the ink thats printed on them, that are supposed to be worth a Million Dollars in 40 years or so, if the business that is failing is still in business, and he will pass them off as being his Million Dollar Reward if you can prove that his scientific knowledge and trickery can't beat your psychic abilities.

The only reason why people with real psychic abilities have failed so far, is because he knows most of the tricks that can be used to defeat others; and he uses this knowledge to defeat those people.

Let's face it... there are people out there with real psychic abilities; but if they are going to beat Randii at his trickery, they will have to realize his trickery. In other words they will have to be much smarter than him in order for him not to use scientific methods to counter act their productivity. Those people that take his challenge need to realize that he is going to do everything within his scientific grasp to destroy their psychic achievements; and lets face it, that usually isn't hard to do.

Simply trick them into making some kind of statement for the "Magic Beans" that he offers, and then watch him do everything he can to make sure they fail. The use of electricity and magnetism at strong enough power can mess up lots of things, scientific things, or psychic things.

I suspect "Table Tilting" could beat his rules very easily. Why? He doesn't know much about it, that is why. Besides, its very simple. You put your hands on top of a table and say the magic words, and the table starts to lift at one end; therefore its called "Table Tilting".

If the table lifts at one end, that would be good enough as far as I'm concerned to prove some sort of supernatural powers that can't be explained.

I've only seen the tables rise on one end. If that would be enough proof for him, then I'm game. I'll set there at the table, with my hands on top of the table with some of you other ATS people and say the "magic words" with some of you other ATS people and watch one end of the table come off the ground.

If any of you ATS people can tell me why the table lifts up into the air when your hands are on top of the table and when you say the "magic words" then explain it to me.

You and others can sit there all day at the table with your hands on top of the table and nothing will happen; but if you say the "magic words" one end of the table will go up into the air.

I have such a table here in my house, that has been used in this strange manner decades ago. It has been used in such manner quite a few times, by generations of my family. One time a girl was sitting on top of the table, on top of some books, and the table still tilted.

I've participated, and it definitely works like stated; the table does tilt. The question is why does one end of the table lift up off of the ground? I've looked under the table when it has lifted, and I saw no one doing anything to cheat, even when I thought for sure someone was cheating.

Now, why would the table tilt when people say the "Magic Words"?

I'm no psychic, but I do know that some things can't be explained.

I think I/we could win his Magic Beans. But it would not be worth my/our time to win "NOTHING".

Well randi is a magician. So obviously the methods he uses are trickery. What are the magic words by the way, and if they work can I actually use them?

Great question. I somehow doubt anyone will come forward with the "abilties", as no one has these powers. No one will be able to show proof of supernatural powers in the flesh. It's illusion and nonsense. Period.

EDIT: In fact, if the so called ATS Psychics and mediums (cough/Ahem) can guess the college I attended, my favorite band or my first dog's name, I would be floored. I can send them to a mod if wanted.

Sorry MajorMalfunction, there is no trickery; the table simply lifts on one end when the words are spoken.

Ok mate, heres a challenge. Why dont you shoot a video of yourself saying the magic words and lifting the table. I would love to see if this is in fact possible. I dont have a million but i can give you 10 bucks to do it

OzWeatherman, I can't tell you the "Magic Words" right now; simply because "out there some where others must know the "Magic Words" and have done as I have stated, and I want to know who those people are.

I'm sure you want to know who else knows these "Magic Words" as much as I do.

I took a class in college, and we came across this subject in one of the books, I think there was a whole sentence on the subject in the book, stating that "Table Tilting" hadn't been done since the 1890s. I told the Dr. that was teaching the class that wasn't so, because I have participated in it, and it was FUN to say the least.

There is much more to "Table Tilting" than I have stated. But.... I still want to find others who have done it also. So... we can compare notes.

When they tell all of you the real "Magic Words", I will know that they are real, and I will tell all of you stuff you would never believe otherwise about "Table Tilting".

It is VERY FUN to do, and I'm sure many of you will want to have such fun, because it will FREAK YOU OUT! You will be sure in your mind that someone is cheating, but you can put up all the cameras you want surrounding the table, and you will see no one is cheating, and the table is doing strange things that science can't provide a complete answer to!

So... find me those other "Table Tilters" out there... so we can all have fun. Reading about Table Tilting on the Internet will not get you the answer; it is supposedly a "LOST GAME" of "LEVITATION". But I know the Magic Words.

So... Please OzWeatherman find those people who are also in the KNOW. I know there are about a dozen people here where I live that have participated in such FUN or know of others who have done it and have described it to them. I will know if anyone claims to have done it is fake or not, by the "Magic Words".

No probs, thanks for bringing table tilting to light. I had never heard of it before today.

Learn something new all the time

And thanks for your post

OzWeatherman, there is a problem; I'm sure it is a "Lost Game of Levitation", and I doubt that others will know the Magic Words; I hope someone knows the words besides myself.

I'd love to come down under, to Austrailia and go gold prospecting in a month or so, but there must be many laws down there which I'm unaware of, and I wouldn't want to break any laws just to get a "Piece of the Rock"; GOLD!

I have tons of metal detectors and haven't gotten to use them in years.

MajorMalfunction my credibility is running at 100%, and will keep running at 100 percent. I doubt if you even knew of table tilting until I wrote about it. It exists, and it is real, and it is easy, and it works, and it will freak you out when you first see it; and even later.

There is some reason why it works, but science will be scratching its head for a long term duration trying to figure out why it works.

Many of you have played with the Oujia Board and have seen the pointer move when you placed your hands on it. But, in table tilting you are basically doing the same thing, except your hands are only on top of the table, no pointer; and the Table will Tilt. In other words one end of the table will lift.
