-B.
DO NOT ZAP YOUR HD in a microwave! The resulting fire would destroy the microwave.
Just write zeros to the drive.(Do a Google search for programs that do this, if it is a Western Digital you can use GWSCAN) Or use a kill disk. "The
writing of zeros to the hard drive is the process used for secure erasure of files - there are standards that exist that recommend the number of over
rights. Having the zeros on your disk causes no problems to you. Use what you have or have a look at www.gale-force.com... for an
alternate solution." www.itsecurity.com...
A kill disk will "debug" your entire harddrive. and write zeros.
Writing zeros is the easiest one to do though

Lets see.
You are in the UK. The clicks are every 30 seconds.
I will put money on you owning a Sky Digibox that is plugged into your phoneline.
You might want to look closer to home.

Well, now for all the paranoid people out there.... why use software to get it off your harddrice.. Maybe they made it to just make you think that it
is all off of there.
You MUST get a nice strong electomagnet and place it over the harddrive for 30 seconds... That will physically erase everything...

I, too, am in Uk and have experienced the same sort of clicking you describe. It turned out to be because the phone I was using was on the same line
as a fax machine. Could this be the same for you?

i just joined the discussion but belive me i know what it means to be tapped...
a few years ago i just picked up the receiver (wanted to call a friend) and there was some music in the background... the phone worked normally except
that music that allways was in the background for some days... it was quiet and looked like someone is listening to albums... after some days of my
swearing adn everything (i really said things that everybody would be ashamed of) the music stoped and my phone worked normally...
now i have isdn and once or twice i heard some strange noise in the background... since it is a digital connection and i wasn't talking to anyone i
guess i was tapped... i have no faxes or anything similar to that in my house... except my isdn adapter that is on an another wire...

You have to ask yourself mate, what do you know that could really damage someone, or something ?????
Then if you know something of such importance then you would be tapped but I do doubt this

With modern technology your phone line is not going to go click every 30 secs when it is tapped, if you are being tapped by any governmental agency
you are not going to get any free clues like that.
No if it was a ametaur job, (is your partner the suspicious type - likely to investigate or get a PI) then that may cause it, but even in this area
good technology is now so cheap.
Most likely you have a faulty line (branches brushing on a overhead cable or something else equally mundane

kidding- real trap and trace devices you wont be able to hear it probably just some static on the line- believe me if they havent arrested you by now
then they've probably got better things to do

My phone had been tapped too two years ago. They made clicking sound like you said.
However, I talked about how stupid it is that they are making clicking sound over the phone and I don't hear them anymore. I got into trouble and
gov't put someone to actually hear all my conversation.
I was on a political international website. Gov't trolls would talk about what I said on the phone to scare me. It was the gov't.
But you don't have nothing to worry because they do this to alot of people. Only few people, like me, had actual people listening in for every call.
The clicking noise means that they are recording your conversation. But you own't be in trouble unless they have someone actually listen to you other
than recording.

Here is information regarding signs of your phone being tapped;
If any of the following warning signs apply and you are concerned about phone tapping, covert eavesdropping or wiretapping then it would be wise to
arrange a Technical Surveillance Counter Measures ("TSCM") inspection as soon as possible.
DO NOT CALL FROM A SUSPECT TELEPHONE, CELLULAR TELEPHONE OR CORDLESS PHONE.
Consider the acquisition of a phone, fax and data encryption device.
Are you a phone tapping target? If eavesdropping on anything you say, write, or do has the potential to increase someone else's wealth or influence,
then the answer must be "yes", you are a potential target.
1. Others know your confidential business or professional trade secrets.
This is the most obvious indicator of covert eavesdropping activities. Theft of confidential information is a multi-billion dollar underground
industry in the United States. Often the loss of your secrets will show up in very subtle ways so you should always trust your instincts in this
matter. When your competitors know things that are obviously private, or the media finds out about things they should not know, then it is reasonable
to suspect phone tapping, technical eavesdropping or bugging.
2. Secret meetings and bids seem to be less than secret.
Confidential meetings and bids are very popular targets for corporate spies. How would you like the plans for the corporate takeovers you're planning
to become public knowledge? Would copies of your product designs be of any use to your competitors? Would it be beneficial for your competitors to
know how much you're quoting for the same project?
3. People seem to know your activities when they shouldn't.
4. You have noticed strange sounds or volume changes on your phone lines.
This is commonly caused by an amateur eavesdropper when they attach a wiretap, or activate some other phone tapping device. Surveillance devices often
cause slight anomalies on the telephone line such a volume shift or drop-out. Professional eavesdroppers and their equipment usually do not make such
noises; so if this is going on it could indicate that an amateur eavesdropper is listening in.
5. You have noticed static, popping, or scratching on your phone lines.
This is caused by the capacitive discharge which occurs when two conductors are connected together (such as a bug or wiretap on a phone line). This is
also a sign that an amateur eavesdropper or poorly trained spy is playing with your phone lines. It could be nothing more than a problem with your
phone line or instrument, but if in doubt you should arrange a TSCM inspection.
6. Sounds are coming from your phone handset when it's hung up.
This is often caused by a hook switch bypass, which turns the telephone receiver into an eavesdropping microphone (and also a speaker). If this is
happening then it is likely that there is somebody listening to everything you say or do within twenty feet of the telephone.
7. Your phone often rings and nobody is there, or a very faint tone, or high pitched squeal/beep is heard for a fraction of a second.
This is an indicator of a slave device, or line extender being used on your phone line. This is also a key indicator of a harmonica bug, or infinity
transmitter being used. Of course it may also be nothing more then a fax machine or modem calling the wrong number.
8. You can hear a tone on your line when your phone is on the hook (by using an external amplifier).
To check for something like this you would have to obtain a "recorder starter" interface (with a VOX option), or some kind of a high gain audio
amplifier such as a uAmp or Kaiser 1059. Then with the phone hung-up listen to your telephone wiring. If you hear a faint, solid, dual tone it is a
dead giveaway of someone using a "slave" eavesdropping device on your (or one of your neighbors) telephone lines. Such devices create a "command
tone" when the subject hangs up the phone (so you must ensure that all of your phones are hung-up).

Buy a half farad cap, an RJ11 phone cord (with one end cut off) and a nice 12 volt car battery.
Wire the HFC to the battery Pos and Neg and pair of the wires on the RJ11 cord that you cut the end off of in this pattern 1st wire and 3rd wire to
positive pole on the HFC and 2nd wire and 4th wire to the negative pole on the HFC.
Now unplug all over phones or computer devices that share your phone line.
Get some heavy duty rubber gloves and plug the RJ11 cord assembly into the wall socket.
BINGO no more tap
p.s. your phone service may or may not work after shocking the line. depending on how far away the switching unit is.
