VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (CBS) ―
A small, inert training bomb fell from a Navy aircraft this afternoon as it was returning to the Navel Air Ship Oceana following a training mission at the Navy's Dare County, NC, bombing range, reports CBS affiliate WTKR In Norfolk, Virginia. The bomb was accidently dropped from an F/A-18C Hornet.
The training bomb fell near a warehouse in Virginia Beach. There were no injuries to anyone on the ground and minimal damage was reported to the wall. Navy personnel are on scene at this time.
The aircraft landed safely at NAS Oceana. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
